How much music do you have on your comp?
With the RIAA threatning people with large fines, I think it might be amusing to determine how much music some of our members have on their comps.
I'll start it off by saying I have a meager 650+ a few, for a total just over 6 gigs. |
I've got about 7500 songs in mp3 format - probably about 6000 of them have been ripped from CDs I own. I'm very rarely on the PTP networks anyway.. I tend to just download a single album as a "preview" - if I like it, I always try to buy the CD. Ironically for me the p2p networks have actually ensured I buy MORE CDs as I can test drive more songs.
'bout 16 Gigs. Want some ;-)
I only have about 140 songs in MP3 format. Most of them are live performances, covers, and other stuff I hadn't heard before previewing it on p2p.
I've probably only purchased 20 CDs my whole life, 15 of them were because I liked what I heard on Mp3 :) |
67.3 gigs on the mp3 HDD.
that, loaded into WinAMP, is - Files : 13985 Total Length : 1082 hours 6 minutes 3 seconds  mostly full proper albums btw. and there's about 20 gigs mp3's elsewhere, either on my PC or on DVD-RAM. :D (ps) and well over 100 purchased Audio CDs too, btw. so it's not just mp3's. |
lets see....2978 songs. for 8.7 days of music that comes in at 13gigs. I'd says 90% or so is ripped from my own CD's.
1685 songs About 8.5 gigs i know thats a HUGE ratio but i have ALOT of mixsets that are anyware beteen 30-90 min long...god bless cable modems
iwould say 2 or 3 of the songs are ripped....but in deffence %90 of the music i listen to is only avaliable on vinyl |
8 gigs, rock! i love them and would bring my laptop before dog if my house was on fire
I've got about 7 gigs one one computer and another 2-3 on another.
326 mp3 and ogg files. About two and a half gigs total.
5.97 gigs.
800 or so songs off of Kazaa Lite, countless live shows
2744 files -> 17 gigs
Seeing as how the RIAA might read this and sue my ass...none
*wink wink |
only about 1 gig, the rest is on about 30 mp3cd's for use in my mp3cd player. I convert all my legal cd's into mp3s too.
My HD is tiny so I have only 2 gigs.
I have a little over 56gb with around 8600 files (a few full album propers, a lot of 70 minute DJ sets)
my full albums list is here: http://www.stickfigurepeepshow.com/albumlist.php |
i have around 4 gigs of mp3s... many dj sets so not many mp3's
Approx 6 gigs. Most of it one time listens or never listened to. I'll download a full cd listen to it once maybe twice make a decision of if its worth buying or not and then never end up deleting the songs out of laziness.
18 Gigs all from CD's me and my roommates own.
a measly 3 gigs, but I got it all at 56k. Que 'em all up, go to bed, and hope for the best.
I have 852 songs on my hard drive. Mostly one-hit wonders, I really didn't need the whole Starland Vocal Band album, and if I had bought it, how much money do you think the orginal writers and performers of the song would get? None. Friggin' lawyers and industry asshats? Plenty.
I also own almost 500 CDs, which I love. |
3.6 GB in cd-sized directories.
I just got Broadband, now I need a new hdd so I can go nuts :) |
22.4GB Here Most of it's legit except for some of the hard to find trance and other stuff that isn't readily available for purchase at your local music shop.
12,000 mp3s which translates into almost 85 gigs. 90% full albums. Most good quality (128 kbps bites my ass).
i have just over 3000 songs, weighing in at about 12gigs or so. half albums, half various mp3z. i tend to burn most of the albums i download to conserve space for more.
I burn them and you just can't beat having an mp3 CD player in your car. 180+ songs on one CD. I've got 5000 songs on less than 40 discs. Its great. If you drive a lot and can afford it I recommend getting one to any lover of music.
actually it's kinda of funny, I've downloaded less music since getting broadband as opposed to my 56K days. But anyways I have 415 songs, 1.69 GB, so I'm a lightweight compared to some of you guys.
1459 files, most of them downloaded
Another relatively small collection here - 529 mp3's coming in at 2.7 GB.
I have 13.7 gig. I have my hard drive partitioned and have one partition just for my music. I have tons of live music and all of the cd's I've bought in about the last month on there.
Right now I have 36 different Pink Floyd shows on my hd along with a few Metallica shows I dl'd from the MetVault from the new album. |
I have seven full albums, all of which I own. Don't listen to music on the PC much so haven't bothered to rip many.
Aside from the moral factor I would sooner spend a little money on a CD than go through the hassle involved in downloading music. Edited - I can't count. |
Before I formatted, it was something like 20-25 gigs of music. Now its back down to a measly gig.
I'm fed up with downloading. I get too many incorrectly titled files and poor quality files. I know there are ways of getting around that, but I'd rather spend the money on the CD these days. I download a couple songs here and there to see what I want to buy. I backup every CD I own.
Not much, I only store them until I burn them. Once they're burned I get ridda dem. Usually I have roughly 50-100mb at most at any given time. In other words, my pc is more of a music port than music device.
about 70 gigs legit cd , tape and vinyl rips or older MP3.com when it was free not much of questionable nature its so much easier to stream than cds I have a mp3 server doing seven zones in my house and a I-Pid so ????
40GB in 2700 files
After Napster I started buying CD's at 6 times the rate at which i had before. I'm at about 1 per month now, as opposed to 2 per year. All of the ones I've bought since have been stuff I've found through file sharing. |
About 9 gigs worth on my server.
Plus, over 250 cds about 100 cassettes 150-200 albums (vinyl for you young folk) and several 45s. Kind of a music freak. The collection stems from jazz to metal to country to comedy and beyond. BTW, the vinyl collection includes 96% of the entire KISS collection, including imports. There's only a few that I don't own on vinyl. |
12 Gigs
1122 songs, 7.69 gb
they are also all on my 20gb zen mp3 player. :) |
3000+ at 192kbps = 17+ Gigs
I've got 10.4 gigs on this pc. Alot are ripped from my own Cd's. I should really take them all off on day.
i blame my laziness :) |
34 GIGs (24 days).
It's hard to find non-modern music on most services except direct connect. Also full albums are hard to find. If I can't find it on the internet, then I buy it and rip it. |
omg
i feel miniscule. i´ve only got about 100 songs. |
oi, i thought i was a hardcore DL'er, but i've got nothing on you lot.
9099 songs, 37.7 GB and I am still in the process of ripping my CD collection.
I also have a large SHN collection of live shows |
52.3 GB, 7315 Files in 632 Folders. True.
Nothing backed up, dreading the day my drive dies. |
My collection is small compared to a lot of you guys. I've got 919 songs, taking up 3.2 GB. But, my HD is only 20 GB.
I just went through and reorganized my stuff, so that it's named properly, and has the right tagging in the file, so you know what it is when you play it back. Had to do about 275 songs that I hadn't done yet. The total is 1,234 songs, consuming 6.24GB on the server's hard drive.
7711 songs
46 gigs |
I have about 800 songs, mostly full albums, mostly ripped from CD.
But the day I can't download music without the risk of being sued is the day I stop buying CDs. Fortunately this day will never come because the RIAA are thinking with their wallets. |
About 20 gigs. Most of it ripped from my own CD's. I don't really do much downloading anymore.
4576 Songs - 419 Folders - 140~ some Different Bands
19.7 Gig About 90% of that are my own Cd backups. |
about 4900 and 21 gigs...
14gbs about 90% are ripped from my own cds or downloads of songs I already have on cd that I couldnt be arsed ripping.
100+ gigs, well over 17,000 tracks at this point.
Still lots of 128s in there, but I replace those as time allows with higher quality stuff. Newsgroups, Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa; they've all been my friends, but I buy music like crazy and always have. I still have 10 crates of vinyl, boxes of tapes and well over 3,000 CDs. A huge part of my MP3s are ripped from those sources so I don't have to wear down the originals - especially with hard-to-find material like a Buckingham/Nicks album or something like that... I have specifically bought a ton of music because of things I stumbled across online. There's a Canadian band called The Watchmen, specifically, who would probably be very happy their stuff ended up online, as I own 4 of their CDs now. Same goes for people like Jim's Big Ego, Martin Sexton...the list goes on and on. With no good radio stations anymore (thanks a TON, ClearChannel...), P2P is how I hear new things these days and if I like it, I go buy it. Just like if I heard it on the radio. |
2560 songs/9.29 gig, mostly at 128 (my hearing sucks anyway). Probably 50/50.
About 40 or so gigs, mostly in -r3mix/-aps VBR.
Ps. That Av makes my head bounce up and down Cheese. :D |
<--- about 8 gigs of random mp3s here...
800+ songs on my computer, and I got this bitch on Christmas, AND thats with dial-up. Maybe I'm overestimating myself, but thats not bad no?
Somewhere around 30 GBs now - all the CDs/LPs that I encode are in Flac format now, but I do have sizeable amount in APE though.
I do have 9 GBs of MP3s that I have DLed from emusic.com, but I f'ing hate to even look at mp3 for files that I encode, Ogg using at least the -q6 setting is the only lossless codec I wil touch anymore. |
2401 songs divided on my desktop and my laptop. I guard my collection with my life. I love it!
Just short of 2,000 and I need to rip several more of my CD's, too. The RIAA or whoever can thank Kazaa for letting me hear a track or two off of Talib Kweli's CD, or else I wouldn't have bought it yesterday. Same for Sean Paul, Boomkat (which I now regret buying), Musiq, N.E.R.D., and Our Lady Peace.
17.1g
thats 4177 mp3's and 141 albums most of whihc i ripped others i ripped from a friend and ive d/led a hard to find ep or demo or 2 |
Yes.
Quote:
around 600 mp3s.
only have about 5 gb, mostly cd's that i really wanted
Probably under 100 tunes, but then, my computer predates the abacus, so there you go.
1255 songs, 5.12 GBs. Mostly downloaded from Kazaa or the network at my college.
Just over 400 songs. 60 comedy songs/stand up.
A lot of them I have the CD's for, others I couldn't find the CD to buy (Like B-sides and shit). Some of them I owed on cassette and am not spending money to replace on CD. As far as I'm concerned, I paid for them already (on cassette) and I have the right to own that music in any format I want to listen to it in. |
And BTW, I d/l the entire new Metallica CD, St. Anger. Total garbage, I couldn't sit through even 2 minutes of any song. SO bad, they weren't even worth having for free and I deleted them all.
About 6 Gb, mostly from Kazaa. A good way to find old music not available on CD or vinyl. Anyone into old Swedish Punk Rock? I have quite a lot. :-)
10 gigs and 15 CDR's full of MP3's.
Just under 11,000 files totaling 42 gigs...
And then comes the 40 pounds of CDs (yes, I measure them in pounds because I stopped counting them a long time ago). |
A meager 24 gigs, mostly full albums.
I had 400, but was too lazy to move them when I got my new pc, so now I have about 20.
24.4 gb / 5167 songs most @ 192 kbps
95% are rips from my own collection, and a few from P2P :D |
22gigs, roughly 12000 tracks
411 files for a total of 1.47 gigs.....56 different artists. I would have more but I can't find half the music I listen too.
I just got cable internet and ive downloaded 300 songs on my laptop the past couple of days, i have like 800 on our other computer. Im really not afraid of the RIAA though cuase i got kazza lite
Well over 60GB. Most of these are full albums or live bootlegs
I also have a 20GB MP3 player, but that music is duplicated and downsampled from my HDs |
Just under 13GB - mostly ripped from my own CD's.
I've only got about 300, but I delete anything I don't like, so I've downloaded loads more than that.
28,978 mp3s, all full ablums, just over 100GB (one near full 60GB, and another 60GB gettin there....) And still counting.........
Downloaded - 2000 songs, ~10GB mainly grab a few songs from bands to see if I want to buy a CD.
I have my CD collection mp3 encoded on a linux box, with SMB exports to the other machines so my music can follow me. It's a tad over 250 MB, about 50,000 songs, all ripped for quality, and backed up on DVD - It took a long time to rip all those CDs. |
I recently had to do a destructive format so I lost all of my music files (damn me for not backing up). Right now I'm in the process of putting all of my good CDs back on the computer. So far in WMP i have 772 items / around 60 hours / about 7 gb.
about 350, but most of those are full albums
Only about 200 songs, I lost a bunch when I reformatted HDD.
I've got about 1300 songs on my hard drive. Most are songs I ripped from cds I own, and the stuff I have downloaded is older stuff that I simply would not have purchased.
300+ mp3's
827 mp3 files.
6 gig or so. Mostly pirated. Avast ye landlubbers arrrr |
More than I know what to do with.
i have about 200 mp3s
Got about 1000 songs.
Need a bigger hard drive :( |
