Oh, Cynthetiq, I'm so glad you posted this one. I still play McLaren's versions of Madame Butterfly and Carmen to my music appreciation classes each semester.

It's a personal favorite of mine. I even remember the first time I heard it and thought it was one of the most incredible pieces of music I had ever heard. He made the original mashup... I don't think I ever heard Carmen, I'll have to play that later today.

This is great and the reason why I bought the Fans album. Thanks for digging this one up. Malc is dead now isn't he?


Oh by the way, this is good in all the ways that Peter Gabriel's Shock the Monkey & Sledgehammer sucked. How can Jeux sans Frontiers and those tunes come from the same person?

Well, the following is a cover of Atmospherics, which really directed me back to the Tom Robinson Band to catch the original. It's done by a local Queen St W (Toronto) New Wave band back when the scene was running red hot. They had other tunes like Might As Well be on Mars, and Cherry Beach Express:
