Lionel Richie - Hello -----Added 7/8/2008 at 09 : 00 : 17----- Lionel Richie - All Night Long |
Ahhhh, the nostalgia!
Did someone mention Aimee Mann? Dont forget her sultry backup with Rush in Time Stand Still (and damn, the trio looks younger then than I am now :) ) |
les rita mitsuoko...now there's a name that takes me back...
Sigue Sigue Sputnik Kraftwerk my theme song :p and in a totally different direction...I kind of can't believe I'm the first one to post a Smiths song My favorite novelty '80s song from Wall of Voodoo...this guy, Stan Ridgway, has made some interesting albums in subsequent years, though The Cure perfect pop song :) |
And my themesong (I put this on every cd I make)
|
Aimee looks cute with her little '80s outfit. But the floating band members makes me dizzy.
|
I loved Billy Joel even as a kid - "Daddy, can we listen to the fire song now?" I stole my dad's cassette tape of "Storm Front" when I was only 5 years old. ;)
For some reason these are still saying "not found" for me.. I'll try to fix them. |
new order: everything's gone green (live, 1981)
bush tetras: cowboys in africa james chance and the contortions: contort yourself dna: detached minutemen: this ain't no picnic |
Some classic 80's punk rock
The Vandals - The Legend of Pat Brown Suicidal Tendencies- I Saw Your Mommy Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized TSOL - Colors Dead Kennedys - Holiday In Cambodia The Exploited - Fuck the USA |
Another band I still find myself listening to...Squeeze.
Pop, so sweet and good. early video...this is probably the late '70s actually...poor quality...look how young they look! my very favorite Squeeze song, but for some reason they cut off the beginning of the song one of my favorite songs ever to sing along with... and their most famous song...Tempted...with the lovely, golden tones of Paul Carrack woops, they won't even let you share the link...that's stupid |
Wonderful selection Cynthetiq!

Journey - Anyway You Want It -----Added 15/8/2008 at 02 : 29 : 06----- Animotion - I Engineer Animotion - Obsession Romeo Void - Never Say Never |
Two of the best Alternative 80's bands that are still going strong today. Depeche Mode & The Cure
Enjoy the Silence - 1989 Precious - 2007 Just Like Heaven - 1987 Sleep When I'm Dead - 2008 |
It's an amazing blast when your teens actually love stuff from your heyday. :D
You have to guess :p ... |
Heaven 17 - Let Me Go
Jesus and Mary Chain - Sometimes Always (oops, this is probably an early 90s song...but still worth hearing aye?) |
Haysi Fantayzee - shiny shiny Swing Out Sister - Breakout |
For anyone that spent way too much time listening to "Operation Mindcrime" (and for Cyn, since he started this thread, for some Singapore memories...)
Queensryche - Eyes of a Stranger |
To me, these are videos that illustrate the pop music and fashion of the '80s...
Jody Watley, "Some Kind of Lover" Nu Shooz, "Point of No Return" The music, the clothes, the hairstyles of the '80s - it's all there! |
A Ha "Take On Me"
Wasn't a big A ha fan... but remember loving this video on MTV for the "awesome" effects of blending comic book pages with real life. |
I love this thread. Reminds me of the good old days. I'm late to the party, so I won't add anymore Smiths, Cure, Depeche Mode, Def Leppard, Billy Idol, or any of the great 80's punk added by Cynthetiq (miss the days trying to act like a bad ass / troubled kid in my doc martins listening to punk). However, I'll add to CinnamonGirl's Plimsouls: Million Miles Away post with another good one from the Valley Girl soundtrack:
Psychedlic Furs - Love My Way |
Ah the Furs! Reminds me of Modern English...which reminds me of:
Which spawned General Public: |
we need a little more 80's....
The Dream Academy - Life in a Northern Town |
|
Okay... I really loved The Jazz Butcher Conspiracy... But then I liked Ian Dury as well. I can't find "Who Love's You Now? " but I did find Peter Lorre, which is a close second:
|
|
Faith No More: We Care a Lot (which I wouldn't have remembered if it hadn't been for Discovery's "Dirty Jobs" show )
|
^I believe this was from a Broadway show called "Chess".^
|
The Communards - Never Can Say Goodbye I never knew that these guys sang this song... for some reason I thought it was Eurythmics or Erasure... |
1980s? Coke!:
Horace Andy, Dance Hall Style: The Mad Prof was dubbing 'the Creator' in the eighties: YMO: Theme music for rb's Santawerk: |
Terrible 80s hair...terrible special effects...horrendous (sp?) lyrics...yet strangely addicting...:)
|
for some reason this has been in my head all day... :) King - Love and Pride |
A little Toto...
"Africa" "Rosanna" Dexy's Midnight Runner's "Come On Eileen" Here's a longer live version... Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" Styx's "Mr. Roboto" |
How 'bout a little Roxy Music...
The Replacements and who can forget Bon Jovi and Bobby Brown |
Neneh Cherry's Buffalo Stance :) |
Not going to bother embedding and what not - too lazy lol.
There's some good pop tunes in here but I was more of a hair metal girl... Guns N' Roses, Vixen, Joe Satriani, Whitesnake, Sammy Hagar, Heart, Motley Crue, Scorpions, Skid Row, Slaughter, Dokken, etc. |
well don't be lazy and find some and post it... for others to also listen to, that's the point to share the music, not the text.
|
Wow. You're friendly.
