Sirius Radio
Does anyone else have this? I just picked up a unit today and subscribed. So far I'm liking it but I'm new to this whole pay for radio thing. I was hoping maybe the people here that have it could post what their favourite channels are!
Thanks!

Can't help you. I have XM.
I never thought I'd gladly pay for radio, but I do. No ads are the best. They have similar channels though. I listen to the 80's alternative channel mostly. Have a blues, disco, light jazz, classic rock, new rock and top 40 channel preprogrammed as well. |

I switch between Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind, Buzzsaw, Alt Nation, Hair Nation, and Raw Dog. I listen to Blue Color Comedy when Raw Dog wastes their daily portions of time with Jim Breuer Unleashed or The Wiseguy Show.
I think the comedy selections are better on XM and I'd look forward to getting the XM comedy channel after the merger. But I suspect it will be tiered with a package that includes Howard Stern. And while I have no problem paying for satellite radio, I wouldn't pay a penny extra for Stern.

Alt Nation, Faction, and Octane are my big three. I don't regret getting Sirius for even an instant given the musical selection (or lack thereof) of the local radio stations, but it has been getting a little repetitive as of late. That is my ONLY gripe.

Also, has anyone upgraded their receiver? Like if I buy one off of ebay, can I get my sub switched over to that one?

You can get the sub transferred to another unit, but at a fee. I think its somewhere along the lines of $75. The website has it listed somewhere in the FAQ.
Personally, for automotive use, I find most of the fancy receivers to be a big waste. In all honesty, I don't use anywhere near all of the presets I'm given now, I rarely record anything I listen to, and anything larger would be downright obtrusive/distracting while driving, especially when mounted on a windshield or higher up on the dash. |
