best workout & gym trax for my ipod?

... I need new music: mostly for running but also for a full gym workout... I need some suggestions as I'm tired of listening to the same old stuff. I tend to buy stuff on itunes, not really wanting to mess my computer with the pirate programs.......

I've been digging anything from the Black Eyed Peas, and the new Fergie album from last year. I like the beat, it makes me walk faster here in the city.

Front Line Assembly (Tactical Neural Implant, Hardwired, Millenium) Mostly a hard. fast beat with a dark flavor to the music. I have those on my player and listen to them when going flat out for an hour on the elliptical machines at the gym.

That depends on what kind of music that you like.

For me, I tend to go with:

Powerman 5000

KMFDM

Motorhead

Machinehead

Pantera

Rage Against the Machine

I do a lot of Guns and Roses, Aerosmith or AC/DC at the gym. Oddly enough on the walk there and back I usually do some thing more tame. Last week was a lot of Mark Cohn, Traveling Wilbury's and Johnny Cash.

For me, it's gotta be aggressive in either tone or emotion. I set up an "exercise" playlist on my iPod, and loaded it with stuff from the Rollins Band, Bad Religion, Reverend Horton Heat, Black Label Society, Iron Maiden, Nashville Pussy, The BellRays, Pantera, Megadeath, Skin Yard, Clutch, and a few from Joe Walsh, Aerosmith, Scorpions, etc. Adds up to about 15 hours worth of music, so except for a few random songs that seem to pop up often, I just set it to shuffle, and let the iPod do it's own mixing. I'm not paying much attention to the actual music when I'm running or working out, it's the mood it sets that keeps me going.

I tend to just listen to whatever comes up on shuffle - but some of the best that pumps me up are "Pantera - Fucking Hostile", "Rage Against the Machine - Born of a Broken Man", "T.I. - Motivation", "Jay-Z - Public Service Announcement".

It really depends on what you like. Sometimes a really chill song can get me going too.

Recently I've had some Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Tad and a few other grunge-ish classics on my ipod. Dunno why, but they really get me working out.

Before then, I had Dvorak's New World Symphony and Carnival Overture on there, but not everyone can exercise to hardcore, badass Czech symphonic music. It lasted about an hour, which was perfect for my previous program (full body).

These days at the gym I'm really into techno and techno/rock and stuff like that -- try searching for these songs:

Thomas Falke "Revolution On The Dance Floor"
Groove Cutter "My Shooter"
Control One "Just A Little Bit"
Ian Carey "Redlight"
Kevin Weg "Dead Radio"

I don't usually go for techno but these are sort of like a wierd crossover between rock and techno/trance.

Most of these I found at this itunes page -- http://www.electricfilebox.com/tracks

For me, being at the gym, it has to be industrial. I listen to a lot of KMFDM, Apoptygma Berserk, Velvet Acid Christ, Wumpscut, VNV NAtion. Stuff with a driving beat and some attitude.

When I'm on the mountain bike (where I exercise the most), I like Infectious Grooves or Filter. Pretty different bands, but good to bike to.

uh, lol, I'm the worst person to ask because I listen to the same music for everything.

Pholeus 07-10-2008 10:49 AM

I like the music to be fast to help keep me going. Usually it's a combination of industrial, thrash metal, and power metal.
