I actually took him to see Doodlebops Live! and this stupid song has been in my head ever since:

I almost forgot!!! Leonard Bernstein's "Overture to Candide"

This is the scene shortly before He is crusified, and we have th spirit of Judas singing.

Certain lines get stuck in my head more than whole songs.

Right now I keep thinking and rethinking

"Miss Sand from the first floor said she'd pray for me
She had a bad dream, that they murdered me
I said, Miss truthfully, I dont believe in dreams"

Shyheim

Jefferson Airplane - Don't You Want Somebody to Love... haven't been able to get that song out of my head ever since I heard it on the radio earlier today.

ring 03-26-2008 02:06 PM

Camelot

My lover is responsible for this one..and I thank him...
I shall happily sing it out loud...all the day long..

FuriousAvatar 03-27-2008 04:18 AM

Jeez, what song doesn't get stuck in my head? I'm like a walking radio receiver. I could be humming along to the tune of some Disney song, then moments later switch to something like Rammstein. I honestly don't know where it comes from, although I know if I hear someone else singing/humming to something it'll tumble around in my head for a while, too.

jewels 03-27-2008 04:34 AM

Today, it's been this.

thanks... you totally brought me back to Sunday nights with Dr. Demento. It's nice to know that same spirit is still alive.

It's better than ever. Go to TheMadMusicArchive - Home Page, it'll have links to everything you can imagine, including some great podcasts (I highly recommend Sudden Death's "Manic Mondays" podcast).

Lulu - To Sir With Love

dc_dux 04-03-2008 06:36 AM

For some reason (the Rev Wright thread in Politics?)...

....the Janis Ian classic, Society's Child has been playing in my mind since I logged on this morning:
Come to my door, baby,
Face is clean and shining black as night.
My mother went to answer you know
That you looked so fine.

Now I could understand your tears and your shame,
She called you "boy" instead of your name.
When she wouldn't let you inside,
When she turned and said
"But honey, he's not our kind."

She says I can't see you any more, baby,
Can't see you anymore.

Walk me down to school, baby,
Everybody's acting deaf and blind.
Until they turn and say,
"Why don't you stick to your own kind."

My teachers all laugh, their smirking stares,
Cutting deep down in our affairs.
Preachers of equality,
Think they believe it,
Then why won't they just let us be?

They say I can't see you anymore baby,
Can't see you anymore.

One of these days I'm gonna stop my listening,
Gonna raise my head up high.
One of these days I'm gonna raise up my glistening wings and fly.

But that day will have to wait for a while.
Baby I'm only society's child.
When we're older things may change,
But for now this is the way they must remain.

I say I can't see you anymore baby,
Can't see you anymore.
No, I don't want to see you anymore, baby.

Disney for me too; I always end up singing Hakuna Matata or After Today (from a Goofy movie). I'll be standing in my kitchen making supper and all of a sudden, I'll belt out "No more Maxy the geek, no more goof of the week, like befooooorrreeee". It always makes me smile. In grade twelve, second semester, every day in fifth peroid (Political Science if I remember correctly) I'd just start singing Hukuna Matata. My teachers had accepted me as the class clown within the first couple of days, so me singing softly while I did work, with the occational "A hoo, hoo!" from people around me, didn't really bother my teacher. She was pretty lax with me for someone so wound up with everyone else.

jewels 04-10-2008 03:49 AM

Today.

Divinyls - I Touch Myself

ItWasMe 04-11-2008 06:28 AM

I wanna know how WK knows the Lamb Chop song in post #33.

My daughter showed me this one last night, and I haven't been able to shake it. The french version of the Gummi Bears. (I saw the link to the english version posted after posting.)

I think I'll be dancing to the tune at work today. When nobody is looking.
