Michael Jackson - Thriller
Pink Floyd - THE WALL Led Zeppelin - IV (Zoso) Fleetwood Mac - Rumors (If you were in a sudivision in the late 70s, they dropped a tape of this and Steve Miller's greatest Hits 71-74 through your mail slot.) AC/DC - Back in Black

So the fifth would be Eagles, Greatest hits, Vol 1. (I just loaded vol 1 and vol 2 into iTunes last night, so it's fresh on my mind.)

So, the complete list is: AC/DC - Back in Black (never would have guessed it - would have bet money that Rumours sold better) Pink Floyd - The Wall (surprised it wasn't Dark Side of the Moon) Led Zeppelin - IV (aka, ZOSO, aka Runes, etc etc) (again, never would have guessed it) Eagles - Greatest Hits, 1971-1975 (I'd heard this, but am always surprised when reminded of it) Michael Jackson - Thriller (no surprise there)

Danke schoen, balderdash.
Blue Oyster Cult trivia, sort of. Michael Moorcock, the well known epic fantasy author, creator of the Elric of Melnibone, wrote at least a pair of songs for Blue Oyster Cult: "Black Blade" and "Veteran of the Psychic Wars". He also did occasional stints as a singer for what British space rock band?

ok since lee scratch perry is now my "friend" on one of another of those ridiculous networky sites that i once was interested in for a while, a scratch question. but it's easy.
perry ran one of the most influential studios in the history of dub. it burned down in 1983. what was the studio called? bonus: name 2 bands who recorded there.

Sticking with Marley: Marley was born "Nesta Robert Marley." Later he went by "Robert Nesta Marley" and finally "Bob Marley." What caused him to change his name?

No, sorry. Thought this was pretty well known among Marley fans. Actually I thought it might be a urban legend but Wiki backs it up.
If no one gets it by tomorrow I'll post a "give me" to keep this game from dying again.

He was wanted for some crime or another? Perhaps shooting the sherriff but not the deputy? I kid.
He was avoiding legal troubles for a bit of pharmacological gardening?

I'll give it another hour, give the answer and toss up a softball. -----Added 23/9/2008 at 06 : 26 : 57----- Hour's up. The answer is a Jamaican passport official accidentally swapped the names and Marley didn't challenge it. Next question: Who are the Glimmer Twins? Bonus points name the first song they wrote.

Right era, wrong subculture.
If I'm not mistaken, the Glimmer twins are another songwriting duo, Jagger/Richards.

Yep, the Glimmer Twins are Jagger and Richards.
The first song they wrote was "As Tears Go By." They thought the song sucked and gave it Marianne Faithfull. The first song they wrote and recorded by The Rolling Stones was "The Last Time." My Ex is a Stones fanatic. She even named our street after the band. You're up Mr. Martian.

Leto and Roachboy, I'm so sorry that it took so long to get back to you on this. I found out on the day I posted this that my mother had passed away- very suddenly. I had to travel to North Carolina to make arrangements and am just now finally getting back to my TFP family. You are both correct at the same minute, however Leto beat Roachboy to the punch. Good answers! Now through MP3 technology I have downloaded most of Crowded House's music, and must say I really enjoy it! Your question Leto!

Perripken, my condolences on the loss of your mother. I know you will get through this, and are here for you.
I was a big fan of Split Enz and 6 Months in a Leaky Boat is running through my head now. So... keeping on with the Down Under theme, what band started by Angus and Malcom Young's older brother had us BRIEFLY doing the African Shuffle?

Thread kind of died with Daniel. I'm going to start it with a give me...
What singer did Ed Sullivan refuse to show from the waist down because his hip movements were deemed inappropriate for a family show? *not suggesting Daniel died, just the thread*

That must've been Elvis "the Pelvis" Presley.
/ I think we can all be thankful that his brother Enos never went into show business.
