well, if i managed somehow to post first....i'll presume to pose a new question.
wilco reminds me of sonic youth, who i saw blow them off the stage in philadelphia a few years ago... quite a while ago, sy did a project with mike watt, j mascis and suzanne sasic (from black flag) that was a kind of...um...tribute in a sense to madonna. what was the name adopted by the band? |
I assume you are referring to CICCONE YOUTH. But you have some details mixed up I think, Suzanne Sasic was not in black flag that is what threw me, after some research she was the lighting designer for the band (SY) and in in the background on one of the tracks on the Whitey Album. Thus is given an album credit
|
ah---i misinterpreted the credits, pulling some infotainment from the liner notes and applying it incorrectly then. mea culpa.
you are correct sir. you're up. |
Sorry folks, been gone a while! Real busy with homework, plus my hard drive crashed! Let's jump start this- Easy one:
Name the keyboard player for the Doobie Brothers who also was in Steely Dan. |
Michael McDonald
(At least that's what this fool believes.) |
I was gonna say Alice Cooper, but you might be right.
|
U ain't no fool TopHat! You're right!
|
Thanks. Let's stick with Steely Dan.
In "My Old School", what school is it that they are never going back to? Name it. (It's not in the lyrics.) |
I thought I knew this, turns out I don't.
|
oh, i know this one...Bard College in NY.
And I only know this because I read it just a couple of weeks ago in an old Playboy magazine. |
Precisely! Take it away Mixedmedia.
|
Thank you, Tophat! :)
What early country & western artist created 'The Cowboy Code'? (aka, as the 'Cowboy Commandments') 1. must never shoot first, hit a smaller man, or take unfair advantage. 2. must never go back on his word, or a trust confided in him. 3. must always tell the truth. 4. must be gentle with children, the elderly and animals. 5. must not advocate or possess racially or religiously intolerant ideas. 6. must help people in distress. 7. must be a good worker. 8. must keep himself clean in thought, speech, action and personal habits. 9. must respect women, parents and his nation's laws. 10. is a patriot. |
Lee Greenwood?
|
Pretty sure that's Gene Autry. As a kid my neighbor used to take me and my brother to a movie theater that showed nothing but old B&W movies. I remember him saving something just like that at the start of one movie.
|
You got it, Tully! Your turn.
---------- Post added at 07:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:56 PM ---------- Lee Greenwood  |
What hip-hop group is credited with resurrecting Aerosmith's career in the mid 80's?
|
Run DMC...
They helped bring Aerosmith back into the limelight with the collaborative recreation of "Walk This Way". |
You're up, that's it.
Fire away POA. |
How did Kevin Michael Allin's nickname come to be "GG"?

You are correct Anxst.
His father, Merle Allin Sr., named him Jesus because, he said, Jesus Christ himself came to him and told him the boy was blessed. (One of the most ironic stories ever, if you ask me.) You're up Anxst. |
Damn, I entirely forgot I answered this. Sorry, folks.
So.....Nick Cave sang his song Into My Arms at the funeral of what famous frontman? |
Wild guess: Freddy Mercury?
|
Being he is Australian and as far as I know Colin Hay is still alive, I'll go with Micheal Hutchence of InXS.
|
You've got it, Pan! Well done!
You're up. |
Thanks, it was a guess.
Let's see..... What punk rock band made a tremendous remake of Frank Sinatra's song "MY WAY". Bonus points for naming the singer songwriter that penned the song. |
well, i know the sex pistols did a version--it was sid viscious's anthem sorta.
but i have no idea who wrote the song... |

ok, looks like we're dead again... Sorry I haven't been around lately folks, it's been a real weird year for me. My mom died, I lost my job, and my hard drive crashed. Anyways, let's get it going again- this should be pretty easy:
Who is the last surviving member of Lynyrd Skynyrd? |
Quote:
"This band released its eponymous self-titled debut album in March 1974, after which followed 18 additional studio recordings, 8 live albums and 6 compilations. As a group, this band possesses 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records. According to the RIAA, This band's sales statistics place them fourth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold or platinum albums by a rock band." Who's Wikipedia entry is this from? |
I'm going to throw out a pretty much wild guess here and say KISS.
I know they have a lot of albums and the timing seems right. |
Nope. This band has had 4 more Platinum albums and 1 more multi-platinum album than KISS. They are a 3 piece band if that helps any. :)
|
I'll say the Bee Gees
|
And I'll go with Rush
|
I think TopHat is right...for what it's worth.
|
Tophat is correct. Well done sir.
You're up. |
OK, Who is the one musician who has played for both Frank Zappa and King Crimson?
|
Quote:
|
OK, a hint then - he was in the second (or third, depending on how you count) incarnation of King Crimson, without James Wetton.
|
I'm almost positive it's Adrian Belew
