Right then...
There was a time when the lineup of the Grateful Dead included a married couple. Name them.

Mr. and Mrs. Uncle John?

Or...

The I don't have a Clues?

Tophat665 12-08-2008 06:39 AM

A hint then: The keyboardist and a singer.

Anxst 12-15-2008 06:23 PM

Keith Godcheaux (or however it's spelled) and his wife...Donna? Deanna? Man, I was never a huge Deadhead, but one of my old roommates was a huge fan of them; posters and records everywhere.

Tophat665 12-15-2008 07:39 PM

Precisely. Keith and Donna Jean. I too suffer a surfeit of trivia from living with deadheads. Apparently the one show I went to (Hampton '89? I think) was their worst in 15 years. So....

I digress.

Take it away Anxst.

Anxst 12-16-2008 06:50 PM

Ah, the things we pick up by association.

Okay, I can't think of anything good. We'll go with an easy one.

Danny Elfman started out in a performance art group in the early seventies that later morphed into Oingo Boingo. What was the original name of the crew, when they were a performance art group?

Troublebot 01-13-2009 12:59 PM

I believe that would be "Who are the Mystic Knights of Onigo Boingo?" Alex?

I'll be shocked if I got that right.

But you did!

You're up.

Troublebot 01-14-2009 06:16 AM

Cool!

Two amazing drummers died in 2008. Name both of them and the artist they both played drums for.

jimk 01-14-2009 10:35 AM

I think 2 of Zappa's drummers died, right? If I'm right about that, I gotta guess Bozzio was one of 'em.......

Troublebot 01-14-2009 12:39 PM

If Terry Bozzio died, it's news to me (and it just might be)

Nope. I'm thinking of someone else. Just as brilliant as Zappa though. Any other guesses?

Tophat665 01-14-2009 01:48 PM

Chad Whackerman and Neal Peart? (I don't know if either of them is dead, but worth a shot.)

special_k_77 01-14-2009 01:50 PM

that would be Mr. Mitch Mitchell and Buddy Miles that played for Jimi Hendrix

perripken 01-14-2009 01:51 PM

Mitch Mitchell, Buddy Miles- drummed for Jimi Hendrix

I'm pretty sure Bozzio is still alive.

Troublebot 01-15-2009 06:11 AM

Whew! Thought I'd made it too hard. Special K's right. Next one's yours sir. :)

special_k_77 01-15-2009 06:21 AM

OK well here is mine -

Who holds the record for most #2 hits? (That is they never reached #1)

Hint: the record is 5

roachboy 01-15-2009 06:23 AM

i assume we're talking about billboard pop charts?
could you say the genre without giving the question away?

special_k_77 01-15-2009 06:43 AM

Yes the billboard top 100 charts and the genre would be classic rock

Tophat665 01-15-2009 07:20 AM

Rolling Stones?

special_k_77 01-15-2009 07:32 AM

nope not the stones.

Anxst 01-15-2009 07:55 AM

Ooh, I think I know this one!

Is it CCR? I remember a high school friend making this claim. He was a huge Creedence fan.

special_k_77 01-15-2009 09:19 AM

Anxst you are correct. It is CCR with 5 songs toping out at number 2 never reaching #1. Your Turn

Anxst 01-16-2009 05:15 AM

Okay.....can't think of anything else, so we'll go with this.

Farrokh Bulsara is the real name of what well known rock star?

Tophat665 01-16-2009 06:52 AM

Freddy Mercury

Tully Mars 01-16-2009 07:12 AM

That's the one. Good work! You're up.

Tophat665 01-17-2009 05:51 PM

How many Arabs in rock and roll any way? Not that many. However, there is one drummer from a Mid 80's trio who, though American, grew up in the Middle East in the 50's and '60s and this heavily influenced his distinctive drumming style.

Name him and the band that made him famous.

roachboy 01-17-2009 06:10 PM

stewart copeland/the police, yes?

Tophat665 01-17-2009 06:16 PM

Jahvohl! Take it away roachboy.

roachboy 01-17-2009 06:34 PM

who is generally credited with having invented hip hop?
there are two possible correct answers:
one would be the name of the person who is understood as having invented the form---particularly through the approach to using breaks.
the second would be the name of the person who created the word hip hop (as a political and musical movement).

I have no idea. The only group I can think of is Run DMC, but I'm sure thats wrong. Yet I'm still typing, how odd.

special_k_77 01-18-2009 08:26 AM

well DJ Clive was the DJ that started it all, I know because I run a DJ business myself, as far as who used the term first I have no idea I was thinking Sugar Hill Gang but you said person so that is prolly wrong. But I know Kool Herc aka DJ Clive is the first one

roachboy 01-18-2009 08:31 AM

kool dj herc is correct.

the other possible correct answer was afrika bambaata, by way of the zulu nation.

you're up, comrade.

special_k_77 01-18-2009 09:05 AM

Oh, I'll do an easy one.
