"Drifting" on a guitar...wow.
Very strange way to play the guitar, but i like the sound that it produces.

Yeah awesome!
I also recommend Don Ross. I've seen him in concert a couple of times. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/PsgKVkTVX_E"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PsgKVkTVX_E" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

I've been listening to Don Ross for years. I love that guy. Another I love is Leo Kotke. The name of the post is Drifting on Guitar, so I expected to see this video, but I got one of my other favorites. Anyway, check this one, called Drifting, out.

That is absolutely incredible. I've seen a number of videos of guitarists who play predominantely two handed tapping, lap or otherwise, but it's always mesmerising for sure. Wish i could remember the name of the women who does it...someone King she's called!

kaki king. yeah, she's lovely.
stanley jordan and them guys were the first i'd heard of who played in this style, but they were using electrics with lots of delay and stuff on them. doing that style on an acoustic has gotta be hard, because you don't have any gain on your signal. tapping a string like that produces a pretty weak sound, it's hard to make it sound clearly, so hats off to these guys and gals. |

Leo Kottke has SOME skill? lol Yeah right.
Also, as far as the sound on electric guitar, check out 'Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing' by Joe Satriani. He does some awesome legato arpeggios in this tune. It sounds even better on electric in some ways. Like explained above this signal goes out at line level and then gets amplified to a live audio. You can do a lot more with dynamics on an electric, at least I believe this is true with tapping, because you don't have to full force the strings down to get an audible sound. This stuff has always knocked my socks off.
