Totally love HTTT. I've totally loved every Radiohead album (well... I liked Pablo Honey, but I didn't love it). For sure, each one has its own personality.
HTTT has the guitar rock backbone of The Bends, but with the songwriting maturity developed through the arc of Ok Computer/Kid A/Amnesiac. It's interesting, though, that except for a few traditionally-crafted tunes, Hail to the Thief would be just as fragmented, distant, and difficult as amnesiac. So they're sort-of back to their roots, but at a remove informed by the ground they've covered since Pablo Honey. I've had "Sit Down. Stand Up." in my head off and on for about a week now. That and "Where I End and You Begin". |
