Live Jazz
Gotta love that live jazz. It's one of my fave things to do, when accessible. California southland people, I needs you to step up now, visitors, former residents, knowledgables also welcome, please. Can anyone direct this car-challenged Angeleno to some live Jazz action? I live on the Westside here in LA. I feel like I need to hit up some live jazz action. I needs it. Thanks!

Live is always the best way to go with Jazz for sure. There are a lot of fantastic players in LA. More Notable, most major artists come through LA once, if not several times a year. In September I know that guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg is coming to LA and you just have to check him out, he's burning beyond belief
There are other LA main stays such as Pete Christlieb, Andy Martin and Larry Koonse are all more then worth whatever minimal cost of admission there is. No doubt there is some sort of LA Jazz website out there or publication available to tell you who is in the city playing. But LA is one of the larger markets in the US for excellent Jazz players because of all the work there is working in studio bands for the Movie industry |
Hey thanks for the reply. But what about venues? Especially on the Westside? That is kind of the problem, finding the venues to check out all those great acts on the Westside (if possible). I was thinking like, are there any jazz clubs or lounges. So less of an auditorium/concert hall but more casual and imtimate (like New York?).
