Guster
I went to see Guster live in Providence a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to know what everyone felt about Guster, if anything at all. The venue was okay, a park outside of Providence Place Mall, tickets were only 10 bucks. Honestly though, I was extremely bored. Whenever I listen to Guster, it usually coincides with night time and/or sleeping; thus, seeing them live wasnt the best thing, becuase I almost fell asleep. Not that its bad music, its just not concert music for me. It's more of a feel good band for alot of people, or just a laid back sound for the rest, in my opinion.
I saw my crazy ex there too, so that probably detracted from my time. Shes kind of like a fairweather modern hippie. You know, the people who just want a free spirit but dont really commit to the whole movement? [Rambling] Anyways, thoughts?

I love Guster!
They are very, very chill, and definitely can put you to sleep.. I think they are unique, and I love their sound. I haven't been to one of their concerts, but I've heard from friends they were great in concert. Then again, people seem to say that about every concert they go to.. ![]() Guster is a fun band, and it's hard for me to put a finger on why I enjoy them. I just do, and I think they are definitely unique, and have a wide range of songs, that cover various emotions.

Actually, I did find it interesting that the drummer had a drumset AND a hand drum/ethnic drum kit. I always guessed they just had an extra percussionist, but I could see that he was pretty well versed in percussion which is kind of refreshing sometimes with alot of lacking quality in some modern groups.

Coincidentally.. I recently discovered they had released a new album at the end of June.. I acquired it, and it's fantastic!
The tempo is a bit faster and I find the songs really enjoyable to listen to. Like I said in my original post, it's tough to put a finger on why I like the band.. They are just very enjoyable to listen to musically; one of my favorites.

Sleepy music? I find them to be very energetic. In any case, I love their music and have seen them about three times in concert now. They seem to be great guys with great music and fun attitudes. Their songs are typically upbeat with depressing (but well written) lyrics. Though that is more true of their older stuff than their newer stuff. To me they are the perfect band to put on the stereo when you are driving. Hmmm... That is a bunch of general commments on a band I really like; were you looking for anything in particular MacGuyver?
