High Mileage oil/filters vs Regular oil/filters
 

Everytime i go to the store to get the oil and filter for my car I wonder if i should be using the "high mileage" oil and filter for my car, before I always was doing the oil in my dads car and so i just got what he wanted... and I continued doing that once I got my car... just this past month my car rolled over the 140k mark and so I was wondering if there was really any difference between the "high mileage" oil and filter or if its just marketing hype...

i normally use the castrol gtx.

there's supposedly a difference. If your car isn't displaying any problems (leaking oil etc_) then don't waste the money. Many cars at 140k are still babies ;)

my girl uses a bit of oil... 1/2 a quart every oilchange
its a 93 ford explorer xlt 6cyl 4.0l with 4x4

it is normal to burn a very small amount of oil like that in an oil change period
