65 Skylark
I stumbled upon this one in my neighborhod. I love the 66/67 skylark, but I dunno about this four door 65. Seems like a good price though; engine suspension and the underside looked good. Any thoughts?

$950 seems a bit high. I would offer $650 and see where it goes from there.

thats cheap.....if she runs good and no rust you got yourself a deal, but you can beat him down!
P.S. take them ugly ass bumber stickers off :hmm: |
The car's in good condition but does need some work, especially the interior but also some bodywork. If I'm gonna put any effort into refurbishing a car I want to be more enthused about it. I think this '65 is the only 60s Skylark I haven't fallen for.

Uh oh :) I don't have a garage nor tools to do much myself, so I'm kinda steering away from the total restoration projects.

My first car was a 72 Buick Skylark. I beat the hell out of that thing, I’m surprised it went as long as it did. As for this 65 I think you could talk him down a little

Like any used car purchase, I would do some online searching to find out what that car is worth.
I guess the price of almost everything has gone up except for gasoline ;) In 1973 I bought a '65 Buick LeSabre, 300ci small-block Wildcat V8, in near perfect condition, still smelled new, from the original owner a protestant minister, it had low miles about 38k if I recall, for $600. That was typical price for those at that time. It ran perfectly until I gave it to my brother when it had about 175k miles on it. |
I've been searching around, but I've not been too serious about it since I'm not in the states for another four months. Prices wary a lot for these cars, and it's hard to compare without having a look at them. Most of the ones I find online are mint condition showcars from $20k upwards. I just want a car that I can trust for longer road trips. What I really want is a descent muscle car from this era, but I realize I can't afford one in working condition. I've also been looking at Chevelle, Roadrunner, Barracuda and Challenger; basically the smaller 2-door cars.

When you are doing your online searching be sure to check out the sites of enthusiasts. I hang out at www.chevelles.com . It is great and there is a lot of general mucsle car info.
Here is a link to a page about how to buy an older car. You may know all this info but it is a good refresher. http://www.chevelles.com/shop/buying.html The classified ads on these sites hold a lot of cars. It can give you a better idea of what is out there. |

Could be done, but it would be a ton of money. I would keep looking.
