oooooo pretty car.... id drive it...

DEI37 06-02-2003 05:53 PM

Ewww...Ford Drivetrain...why'd they ruin an otherwise nice car?

WarWagon 06-02-2003 06:21 PM

Amen to that, DEI. You just don't put American "muscle" in a foreign exotic. You'd think they'd opt for something with a little more finesse.

I dont mind it other than that. Kind of looks like a McLaren's fat baby brother.

Atomic Pinkie 06-03-2003 12:30 AM

fat baby brother LOL

I like the look but would have to agree....bleh

ARRH 06-03-2003 06:38 AM

yeah i love this car. i remember seeing it at the geneva motor show. i was amazed. i love the windscreen. looks like a cockpit

DEI37 06-03-2003 03:14 PM

I think the motor to use for this car would be a BMW V12 powerplant be it "M"-ified or not. The car looks good, but I'd use the BMW motor. Can't be much bigger than the Ford 4.6 S/C, can it?

nash 06-05-2003 09:45 AM

Just because they put a Ford drivetrain it's now a horrible car? That's a very shallow thing to say.

3x0 06-05-2003 11:30 AM

"BHP/Liter 142.4 "
omfg :o
These guys at Koenigsegg should teach rest how to do extreme engines
Race cars are often below that :E

focalevo 06-05-2003 03:43 PM

I like the idea of mixing euro exotica with american muscle, and the end result is an amazing car!!

I'm sure no one would complain about the Ford heart if it were parked in their garage.

142.4 HP/Liter beating race engines?!?!

M-B/Penske Indy 500 engine: 950hp (conservative...actual in the 1000-1100hp range) from 2.65 Liters = 358.5 HP/Liter This engine was turbocharged with a pushrod actuated valve train. They run on methanol.

Winston Cup engines: 750-800hp from 5.7 Liters = 131.6 - 140.4 HP/Liter These engines are naturally aspirated with a pushrod actuated valve train. They run on a high octane version of pump gas.

I don't know specs for F1 engines, but the old school Indy Car engines were in excess of 300hp/liter...15 years ago. NWC motors would be better off with fuel injection. They'd probably see a boost of 50hp without any other mods to the motor. Tune it be a fuelie, and they may see 65-70hp more. I realize these comparisons are a little off, since the Ford engine is blown with fuel injection and an OHC valvetrain versus the small displacement, blown, pushrod, fuel injected CART engines and the large displacement, carbuerated, pushrod NWC engines. But, you get the idea. They are just now getting 140+ HP/Liter from a boosted engine. CART & NWC have been at or substantially above these levels for a long time, one with small displacement and high revs, the other with old school pushrods, carbuerators, and large displacement.

Oh, to clarify myself on the Ford engine choice. I didn't say the motor was bad, although there are better alternatives in cost, and power. I'm just saying that that motor choice in that car is poor. Even a LS6 from the C5 ZO6 would be out of place in that car. That's why I mentioned the BMW V-12. It's a solid piece that costs less than Ferrari or Lamborghini alternatives. It makes good power, is smooth, and sounds nice.
Oh, and I don't like Ford, just for the record. :D

Eeks! That was long.

thadon 06-06-2003 05:58 AM

sweet ride ... but too damn expensive I bet

SpikeQX99 06-28-2003 09:06 PM

Holy shit! That's like F'n Transformers yo. I bet there's a robot face underneath that car somewhere, and a laser gun too! Sweet stuff.

tobasco72 06-28-2003 09:41 PM

nice!! it looks rad and is powered by a ford motor

tobasco72 06-28-2003 09:41 PM

reminds me of my fav car of all time. the Pantera

deathbygaetano 06-29-2003 01:19 AM

On the styling: Kinda looks likes a guy at VW got a hold of a 360 Modena.

Apart from that, let's not bash Ford too much. They did come out with some wonderful cars. Anyone remember the GT 40? Any of the Shelby's. Hell, the Ford Lola cars? And no, I don't even really like Ford the brand much at all. I just think that the Mustang engine may have been a good choice because it's dirt cheap and it produces a whole lot of power. It's probably also a stab at Le Mans. The Corvettes and Dodges are beating the hell out of Ferrari and even Porsche because they use engines that have a rediculous amount of displacement and produces lots of power at low revs. Anything that revs higher is at a disadvantage because of the air restrictor plates they use.
http://media.gm.com/gmracing/enduran...technology.pdf

Corvette says it all themselves. Anyhow, the mustang engine makes sense.... ok, ok. Not that much sense. But if they enter Le Mans, we all know why they put a big 'ol 'merican engine in it.

At risk of making this too long, I'd like to add that the CART cars make that much horsepower because they're not road cars and they rev up to 11k rpm or whatever it is. But that fact that this may be street legal and make 145 hp a liter is still pretty impressive.

Oh yeah, the new Bugatti only makes 125 hp/liter or so. With how many turbos?

deathbygaetano 06-29-2003 01:25 AM

Ok , I missed the part where DEI37 was clarifying for 3x0 that race engines were not below 140 hp/liter. But I think it's still impressive for a street car. Which is what it seems like they're aiming at here.

Snoogans 06-29-2003 01:02 PM

Even if I have to lie, steal and kill, that car will be mine.

Cynthetiq 06-30-2003 09:46 PM

mmmmm pretty car

Bike-Mad 07-01-2003 01:05 AM
