now here's MY kinda family sedan!

Source: Brabus

The world's fastest four-door coupe comes from Brabus and celebrates its world premiere at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show IAA. This automobile, built in small-series production based on the Mercedes CLS model series, is powered by a 730-hp 6.3-liter twelve-cylinder twin-turbo engine, that was implanted with almost surgical precision into the engine bay of the four-door. The performance speaks for itself: 0 – 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, 0 – 200 km/h in 10.5 seconds, 0 – 300 km/h in 29.5 seconds are just as outstanding as the electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h.
At the heart of this new high-performance automobile lies the V12 twin-turbo engine from the SL 600. Brabus fits the engine with a special crankshaft, increases the cylinder bore and installs forged pistons, resulting in a displacement increase to 6,233 ccm. Further modifications include the optimization of the mixture flow in the intake and outlet manifolds of both cylinder heads as well as the installation of sport camshafts.

In addition the Brabus powerplant engineers equip the engine with custom-developed larger turbochargers, more efficient intercoolers and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with low back pressure metal catalysts and four tailpipes. Newly programmed engine electronics coordinate all new components perfectly and contribute not only to maximum power yield but also to meeting all current legal emission limits.

After the engine conversion, now also available for all Mercedes-Benz 600 und 65 models with twin-turbo V12, the Brabus S V12 S Biturbo engine becomes the most powerful TÜV- tested engine from Germany: The engines puts out its maximum power of 730 hp / 537 kW at 5,100 rpm. Peak torque is 1,320 Nm, limited electronically to 1,100 Nm, available from a low 2,100 rpm.

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a modified five-speed automatic transmission and the Brabus locking differential.

The Brabus Rocket engine and the entire drivetrain is operated with high-performance lubricants from technology partner Aral. Brabus Naturally it is essential that the unique performance the world's fastest four-door coupe is capable of can be safely controlled at all times. To do so Brabus has developed two special suspensions for the Rocket: The comfort version features air suspension with automatic ride leveling. The sport version comes with a height-adjustable coil-over suspension and gas-pressure shocks with six different settings for bound and rebound on front and rear axle.

Maximum size and state-of-the-art materials characterize the Brabus high-performance brake system of the Rocket. The front axle is fitted with vented ceramics discs in size 375 x 36 mm and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers. The rear axle features steel discs in size 355 x 28 mm and 6-piston aluminum fixed calipers to round out the powerful and fade- resistant brake system.

The giant brakes and the enormous performance necessitate the use multi-piece Brabus Monoblock S light-alloy wheels with 19-inch diameter. The Brabus technology partners Pirelli and Yokohama provide the high-performance tires suitable for these highs speeds. The optimal tire/wheel combination for the Brabus Rocket are 8.5Jx19 wheels in front with 255/35 ZR 19 tires and 10Jx19 with 285/30 ZR 19 on the rear axle.

The Brabus designers custom-developed a front apron for the Rocket with large air inlets for optimal cooling of oil and water radiators. The shape of the front spoiler and of all other Brabus aerodynamic-enhancement parts was fine-tuned in the wind tunnel. Not only did Brabus succeed in reducing lift on the front axle, but also in optimizing aerodynamic drag.

The aerodynamic counterpart to the front spoiler in the rear is the Brabus rear spoiler lip which emphasizes the rounded design of the rear. But that's not all: In combination with the new front apron the spoiler lip reduces aerodynamic lift, thus further improving directional stability.

Integrated entrance lights are the dominant feature of the Brabus door sills and the Brabus rear apron. Pushing a button on the keyless-entry remote or pulling on a door handle activates five LED lights on each side and in the rear. They illuminate the ground behind and on either side of the vehicle to further improve user-friendliness.

The Brabus rear apron is the perfect backdrop for the four tailpipes of the Brabus high- performance exhaust system. Its integrated diffuser also contributes to the refined Brabus aerodynamics concept for the Rocket.

The interior of the Brabus Rocket also meets the highest expectations of the distinguishing customers of one of the world's most exclusive automobiles. Soft and breathable Brabus Mastik leather and Alcantara are part of the exclusive BRABUS ambiance as is the ergonomically shaped Brabus sport steering wheel and the speedometer with 360-km/h scale.

The high-end Mercedes-based powerplants coming out these days are just completely sick. I'd love to own one, but considering I can't afford it, I hope I never actually run up against one. My ass would get whooped.

That's beyond sick, that car is just to extreme for words. I'd love to pull up somewhere with that beast and see the looks on peoples faces. Not to mention flooring at a green light for poops and giggles.

That's quite a car. Sure looks like it means business.
Can you imagine how scary 730HP would be for the kids in back?

Am I the only one that doesn't like all these cars that look like they're from some fifty's 'cars of the future' right up? I mean, yeah, the spec sheet on that thing is impressive as all hell, but the styling turns me right off.

I guess I just like my cars with a bit more aggressive styling than is the trend these days. That's why, given the choice, I'll stick to cars that were built before 1990, thanks.

Incredible car. It just needs a grille that doesn't look like a giant gaping hole (perhaps the mesh as seen on the Jag S-Type R), and those godawful wheels have got to go. No matter how cool the design is, black wheels always remind me of steelies that lost their hub caps.

EDIT: And considering the price, a front body kit that actually fits properly against the hood/fenders, and trim around the headlights that doesn't look like somebody jammed cheap weatherstripping around them wouldn't be too much to ask, either.

I like the black wheels too.

I'm trying to figure out how they get 12 pistons in a brake caliper. The thing must cover half the rotor.

Very ugly wheels. Very ugly back. Very ugly headlights. Awesome interior. Great power. Since I'm more of an apperance guy, I will never buy this car (hey, let me justify my inability to afford it ).

They are brazen enough to remove all reference to the parent company of the car - Mercedes. Isn't that a bit much? If I stick a hot engine into a car, I get to call it mine? It think the engineering done my Mercedes for the base car far outweighs the overbore and turbocharging and blingifying done by Brabus. But now it's theirs?

At least they left the emblem on the steering wheel. I guess they don't make 700-hp airbags...

when AMG used to do tuning in the 70s and 80s.. they couldn't leave the emblems on as they would be sued by Dailmer Benz. I imagine the same thing could be said for this...

Are you sure about that? Thats before my time, but nowadays there are hundreds of tuners that dont rebadge their cars...I'm pretty sure this has more to do with the arrogance of Brabus than fear of a lawsuit.

Sorry didn't mean to imply that it was about lawsuits today. I was suggesting it's about the look that AMG used to have to comply to, a throwback to those days as a look.

I believe the reason AMG was singled out before as such was because they did a whole reconfiguration of the vehicle from motor replacement to cosmetic. Some tuners are just small bolt ons in comparison and not a complete overhaul of the vehicle.

and IMO i much prefer the shaved emblems off of cars as a personal choice.
