Honda gearbox noise???
I've started hearing a noise from my car recently that has me concerned (actually more confused than concerned at this point).
It's a 2002 Honda Accord EX V6 with an automatic transmission. It sounds like it's coming from the gearbox but I'm not certain. It sounds as if the car is in low gear when I'm driving on the freeway but the tach shows 2500 rpm at 70 mph which seems about right. If I put the car in neutral while driving on the freeway the noise does not go away. I dropped it down into 3rd gear (4 speed automatic) and naturally the rpms went up, I then tried dropping it into 2nd gear but the rpms didn't change. I may have been locked out from 2nd since I was doing 70 on the freeway. I put the car up on stands and tried to diagnose it but the Traction Control System kept kicking in (I'm sure I could have figured out how to disable it but I haven't bothered yet). Any ideas? Thanks! |

irseg,
Thanks for the reply. Just got back from the garage and I checked the wheels and they seem rock solid. Does it matter if both wheels are off the ground at the same time? That's how I tested it and there was absolutely no movement. |
