My First Car!
We went out shopping today and came back with a 2002 Mazda Protege ES.
The car's got 26,005(!) miles on it, 16" alloys, rear spoiler, power windows/brakes/steering/mirrors, keyless entry, fog lights, sunroof. The engine is a 2.0L DOHC 16-Valve I-4, it's got a 4-speed automatic transmission. Originally they wanted $12,000 for the car alone, before title and taxes. After a test drive and about 40 minutes of negotiating, we got the car for $11,000 including all fees. So the car basically cost me $10,289. Very happy with the car. It handles and feels a lot better than a 2003 Civic and a 2001 Sentra that I drove. The only thing I'll be changing is the color of the car. Right now it's kinda beige/gold but I'll be repainting it to a shade of blue in the spring. It's dark already, but I'll definately post the pictures tomorrow. |
I got my first car today, too. Mine's a '98 Prizm with 81,000 miles for $4,000 lol Yours sounds better.

I think you'll like that car. I like Mazda's really. Good cars. I had a 1987 626 with a 2.0 4 cylinder and a five speed. It went nicely, got good mileage, and didn't have a lick of trouble with it. Good luck with it.

Well, I only drove it for like 5 minutes. Right now it's parked until mid next week until we get insurance on the car. Right now I can only look at it from my room window and come down to sit on it and enjoy the quite nice stock audio system.

Yeah, Ford didn't get their grubby mits on Mazda until the early-mid 90's. Mazda still makes a good car, though. Better than the Korean counterparts, I think, and in my opinion, better interiors, ergonomics, and styling than Honda or Toyota. |
That thing looks sharp. Really does. I like it...a lot.

Thanks! So far everyone liked it. Next group of people to see it are my co-workers.
EDIT: Just a quick question. The odometer meter is always lit up, even when the car is turned off. Is that how it should be? |
