Finally, new BMW 5 series unveiled and in motion!

Am I the only person who actually thinks this car looks pretty sweet? For you power nuts, the M5 should pack a 5.5l V10 pushin 500+hp.

Yes, the M5 will definitely have the V10. I wouldn't be surprised if an M6 got it as well. Either way, it paves the way nicely for a V8 M3, due 2007.

It's a POS, just like the 7 series. The little dial on the console is a pain in the ass and TOOOOOOOOOO confusing. Takes a damn hour just to program the radio. The shift knob is a bigger pain in the ass just to get the fucker in gear. They actually give you a card to hand to the valet when they park your car that shows how to get the car in gear

BMW fired the guy who designed the 7 series due to a LARGE drop in sales and complaints from consumers, and they are already talking about redesigning the 7 series. Oh, that same idiot designed the new 5 series

frankly, they should burn all the new 7s and 5s and use the metal and other materials to big a huge memorial shaped like a piece of shit to represent the new bmw designs in the current millenium.

You're right, they are going to dial back the design of the 7 series. However, the new guy in charge of design, Chris Bangle, isn't going anywhere. They haven't fired him and the new 7 is actually selling MUCH better than the old 7 ever did. I agree with you, it's ugly as sin, but the car itself drives amazingly well and the sales are reflecting that.

thats pretty raunchy...not the normal block shape of a BMW thats for sure....question is, how does it drive? I mean, videos are just fine, if you're never going to be around anyone and the roads are going to be perfect.

How is the quick pass on it?

How is the pickup?

What kind of roll does it have?

I was in the market for a 545i 6spd to possibly replace my X5 4.4i... until I saw it. Not all that happy.

As far as the 7 series goes... I had no problem getting use to driving it. IDRIVE took me about 3 minutes to get going, and after 30 minutes with the car, I was using it pretty effortlessly... so it sounds like the problem may have been the operator.

One good thing that I have read, is that the E60 is a handling beast, and definitely has some power.

Looks like I'll probably be waiting for a 645i unless this thing really catches my eye. The problem with the 6 though, is that BMW likes to sell them for around the price of the 7.

As a BMW fan (Though, I am far from a true gearhead), I have to say... I hate the Bangle designs in general. The guy has lost a lot of the cool stylings that BMW had and gone for almost more of a Japanese body style than European. The designs starting in 92 and on till the current Bangle era are some of my favorite BMW designs, and I wish they had continued with much of the same styling.

Off the course of the topic but E36 = awesome.

I gotta agree with ya Zorgan. IMO, the E36 M3 is one of the best BMW designs of all time. Of course I'm a little biased:

I can't wait for a new set of M's to come out. I love the sound of a V8 M3 but can't help wonder what the waiting list for one of them would be like.

PS. i prefer to use all my tissues over the E46 3-series. Of course, i'm a little biased also

I just don't see the appeal of this car. It looks the same as most of the cars I see everyday.
Seen one = seen em' all.
