What to upgrade?

I just got a stock 2000 Mustang, and I'm looking to upgrade it a bit for fun and just for the extra respect of peers... However I want to keep it kinda on the down low I'm allready paying 320 bucks a month for the insurance and just dont want to pay more. I'm also however wanting to make it look more like a street race car, but have no intention of actually geting into that stuff. But like the looks and performance of them. Also I'm not sure where to start or what to get.
Any sugestions?

Are you looking for cosmetic upgrades, engine-related upgrades, handling upgrades? All of these?

got google?

Im going to assume you want to retain daily drivability.

easy things: intake, cat-back exhaust

handling: new rubbers and lowering springs

these should make the car more sporty while minimizing the chance of issues arising.
got this from google:

Definitely upgrade the tires. I'd recommend either Pilot Sports or Potenzas, although both of those are pretty pricy. I + E is a good idea, as is reprogramming your ECU. Start small!

One more thing: I wouldn't recommend lowering it more than an inch at most: clearance issues and such.

Seriously, if you have the V6 don't bother trying to make the engine produce more power.
If it's a manual transmission, add a short shift kit, and maybe a new clutch. It will make it feel faster, and more fun to drive.
I say, get new springs, shocks, and tires...you can have more fun with a car that handles well than one that's fast off the line.

The V6 can get plenty of power, and it's a lot lighter. Go for forced induction, intake manifold, ceramic headers, exhaust, intercooler or radiator upgrade, chip, fiberglass hood (not for cosmetics, but for weight), suspension (I use Koni adjustables, what with their adjustibility and all), and maybe a short shifter and sports seats.

That would be fun and all, but it wouldn't be worth the money. I recommend stuff that would feel like a big difference for as cheap as possible.
I always try to encourage anyone who wants to do stuff to their car to not go overboard!
I've been through that and it's not really worth it...

I'd wait on tires until the car actually needs them.
