Top Gear on the Discovery Channel!
http://dsc.discovery.com/schedule/se...=0&channel=DSC
It looks like Top Gear will be airing in the US on the Discovery Channel for a while. Through September, anyway, which is when the calender on the above link ends. Unfortunatly though, the episodes they are going to be showing are completely random ones from all seasons. Has Top Gear aired before in the US? Does anybody know where I can get DVD box sets of previous series? There are 'best of' sets and other random videos they put together, but I haven't seen a season box set. I really hope they end up making one sometime. Top Gear is great and it's too bad that it only airs in the UK |

Great show. Watch it all the time. Last week was very entertaining as they attempted to get a Ford Transit van to do a sub-10minute lap round the Nurburgring and marathon man v's the car across 26 miles in London rush hour!

That driver was driving the shit out of the Transit, great to watch her control the thing. Poor Jeremy slips a disc in his back and can't get the pictures of the cars off Hammond to put them in their rightful place on the 'Cool Wall'.
Not too sure where to get DVD's of the seasons, I download all mine as I live in Canada and don't get it here.

I don't think it'll ever be released as a box set, only as specials and 'best ofs'. It's a long running BBC series and they only ever release mini-series or comedies on DVD. It'd be like asking them to do an Eastenders box set!

I watched it twice. What bothers me the most are the British accents. Quite honestly, I'm having a hard time not changing the channel. It's like nails on the board for me. The cars they talk about are very nice though. That Aston Martin DB9 (I think) was orgasmic.

Bobby brought up a good point, because they already did it. I watch Discovery Channel frequently, so i've seen the ads for their "New series" Top Gear. And they don't even advertise it as a car talk show or car review show. They've changed the entire point of it. They say "Every week theres a new car, a new challenge!" while showing clips of the Mitsubishi Evo vs bob sled, Mitsubishi Evo FQ vs. Murcielago, Lotus vs Apache helicopter, etc. Discovery channel is advertising it as a completely differant type of program. It's pretty silly Last edited by todd; 07-14-2005 at 10:33 PM.. |

I found a page with quite a few top gear DVDs but, unfortunately all but two out of about twenty are discontinued.
