AC Problem in 2002 Chevy Cavalier
Any help would be appreciated. I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier. The AC has recently stopped working. When I press the AC button, the compressor does not kick in at all, leading me to believe that it may be electrical (it's not getting the signal). I've checked all the fuses and they are fine.
The AC button always had a tendency to stick a bit, but the light still goes on for the AC. The button started sticking again when my wife spilled her coffee on my front console. I'm not sure if any made it behind my console, but a lot of the buttons stuck for a while. Not sure if this has anything to do with the AC not working, but I figured I'd better through it out there. My dad can fix just about anything, but I'd like some help diagnosing the problem here. Thanks for your help and support - and here's to all the dad's who helped us keep our cars running. |

Low refrigerant will also cause the compressor to not come on. You can check by bypassing the low pressure cutoff switch. If you believe you have a problem with the button you can pull the console and with a wiring diagram and test light find out if the switch is sending power when turned on.
