How tall, Pain Train? I'm like 6'3", and I fit fine, no problem, in a Copper S. I drove it for a two hour stretch. No need to stretch more than usual.

Furry 05-31-2005 01:15 PM

Gullwing doors on a Mini?

pwnage. Sheer pwnage.

I'm pretty sure gullwing doors are like the ones on a delorean.
I think those are referred to as lamborghini style.

hunnychile 06-01-2005 05:25 PM

I love the Coopers! But then, I'm only 5 feet tall...but my friends in the car biz say it is built extremely well and performs like a "raped ape".

Deloreans are definitely do not have lambo doors. It sure does look "gull winged".

Cynthetiq 06-02-2005 10:03 AM

*sniff* only 1.5 more years until I buy a MINI... (the goal is to not have a car payment for 1 year.)

the S model now comes in an automatic with paddles, MINIfanboys have said it's totaly rockin' hot.

Jackebear 06-02-2005 02:43 PM

Damn, those are some great pics. Makes me seriously think about taking a closer look at one of these Mini's.

I would say if your a serious driver, forget the base and go for the Cooper S...might as well get one with a little 'umph' to it. Send us some pics when you get it.

I love the Cooper mini

Amazing car to play around with. The supercharged "S" is a really fun car to mess around with.

lite campfire 06-05-2005 10:14 PM

Classic mini fans always bash the new one, but they are really nice cars.

Diverson:
Gullwing: Straight up (Mercedes-Benz 300SL, DMC)
Lamborghini/scissor doors: Straight forward (Lamborghini Diablo). If you have a car with a 'Lamo door kit' on it, the doors will open normally a few degrees first before swinging forward/up to allow them to clear the frame, and that's what the MINI there does.
Then there's the Koenigsegg CC8S/CC8R/whatever, who's doors swing up and shift outward on some kind of wierd helical path. And the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Pretty self explanitory from the picture.

You all can continue being on topic now :D

Look out for the NEW new mini. BMW are bringing out a new MINI at the end of this year or next. Comes with new IP. Revised front end (to comply with pedestrian crash safety), new classy front headlamps, side indicators, intergrated rear spoiler and less fussy rear tail lamps.

How about some Pictures?

Cynthetiq 06-09-2005 01:54 PM

okay... lemme see what I can do...

most noted about MINI '07 is that they dump the supercharger (no more air intake on the S) and replace it with the turbocharger.

sorry for the EXTRA LARGE PICTURES

pretty cool car indeed..they were the coolest of the cool when they came out...
now..well I guess I got used to them...just like the Z3 after a while, and the AUdi TT after a while..they loose their coolness.

Illegal? really? but people drive Lambos around town all the time...

cyberhh 06-18-2005 02:38 PM

The new Mini will also gain HP and the motor will be a Turbo Peugot (sp?) I think 210hp for the "s" replacement (not 100% positive)

Also the "paddles" on the auto are not to be confused with BMW's SMG transmission as the paddles are not a "high performance" option, just paddles. You also will not be able to do a lot of the JCW engine add-ons with the Auto, the manual is a requirement.

I do have to tell you that the MINI COOPER S w/ 6 Speed is a gas to drive, like a street legal go cart. I have a 6'7" friend that fits better in the mini than in his PT Cruiser, he had 4 inches of headroom available to him in the car.

We joke (I work at a BMW/Mini dealership) that the MINI should have a dead mans switch like a boat with a strap attached to your wrist so that when you take a corner to fast and fly out of the car it will kill the engine because it will not loose traction. The car handles incredibly well and is a gas to drive - best value under $25k.
