2004 Ford GT Concept
Awesome car. Looks kind of funny having the same ford oval as an escort though :p .
I can't say for sure, but I think that car might not make it to full production. It is a near replica of a car they raced in the sixties called a "GT40".
I would be surprised if this actually became the 2004 Mustang. Especially after the redesign planned for 2003. |
That thing NEEDS to be made. Ford doesn't really have a high performance vehicle, excluding the SVT Cobra. Build it, Ford. BTW, I'm a Ford Hater.
I consider myself more of a truck guy..........but this is one of those cars that I'd make an exception for ;)

Yes, it is based almost entirely on the GT40. What's missing in these pics is one dressed up in the Gulf Racing paintwork. http://www.me.mtu.edu/~prater/carpic...T40/gt40_3.jpg Recently a street GT40 went for $360 000+ at the Barrett Jackson Classic Auto Auction. Which was an extremely low price, as it was expected to fetch over 400. |
now that is one sexy machine!
who said ford was dead. |
Looks like a GT40 to me too.......still really nice car. Has anyone seen or heard the GT40 in real life? I'm not talk KIT car (well I like them too!). Still like my Chevy's! Good Post!
The GT40 was going to come back into production. Then they discovered that "GT40" was trademarked and copyrighted by someone else. So this is it, it' splanned for production next year or '05.
Yup, I heard that it is going to be put out at $150,000. Also said to beat Vipers and Porshe 911tt's. I think MSN ran this info on it.
Drool. This car is something to sell your soul for or at least your younger sister.
sweet fuckin' ride
I think it is still supposed to be named the GT-40, and it should be. All the dimnesions on the car have been increased slightly to better accomodate its passenegrs over the original race car, but it is supposed to go into limited produciton, for a whole lot o money.
That car definitely needs to be made, just to put Ford back into the high end market.
i'd buy one! looks cool! better then the gt40... and a cooler design then the gt90...
awesome i want one
They will be building 3 in 2003, this is to celebrate Ford's 100th anniversry. Every year after that they plan on builing 500 to 1000 a year. They are going to be named the Ford GT, they can't use GT40 because some other buisness copyrighted the name and they were going to charge Ford 15 million dollars ti use they name. I have seen quite a few in person, I restore cars for a living, and the originals are beautiful in person, they make the most beautiful sounds. With the 289 ford v8 they were fast, once they put the 427 in during 1967 they became stupid fast.
nice car :)
Loving this car!:D
I'll take two.
WANT!
The front looks sweet, don't like the back on that last pic. But the power makes it all better. :)
Its soooooooo sexy!
I likey very much
I work at Ford and we just got some advertising brochures that include the upcoming GT. Ford lost the rights to call the new car the GT40 as they are originally planned.. and since the new car is actually 43.5 inches tall it's kind of fitting that it didn't carry the same name as the original GT40. The car will sticker around $150,000 and be limited production. Under the cars "highlights" they listed that it was still build as a purebred race car and is designed for stability at 170 mph.
