It's in, and it runs!!! (56k, OK)

Well, things are going well, and the new engine started and ran today apparently. I am SOOO pumped about this. Here's a few pics to show you what's going on.

Out with the old 3100 V6:

On its way out:

Empty engine bay!:

Closer look:

Car up on stands:

In with the S/C 3800 V6:

Angle from the intake side:

Under the car:

Finished exhaust:

He had it running today for a short time. Still have a few little things to iron out, but this looks like a lot of fun. I bring it back at the end of May. Then, I'll be able to put up a video or two, and some more pics.

Oh, you have NO idea how pumped I am about this. The guy doing it has a '96 GP that the L67 has been swapped in to. He's got more mods than I do...mine's mostly stock, AND his is backed by a 5-speed. That thing is quick. Lots of fun. His runs about 102mph in the 1320'. I'm just hoping for 93-95. Not sure how optimistic that is, but that'd be a nice number to see.

You probably had the 3.4L DOHC which are incredible nightmares to do anythign from spark plugs to change a alternator. The 3.8 supercharged isn't really that bad to work on i've found out.

Yeah, this is a completely different animal than the 3.4 DOHC. That engine COULD be a good engine, but it had to be maintained particularly well, and yes, maintanence was a pain. This is the engine used in '97+ GTP's and Regal GS's. This particular setup should be in the 260-265HP range, up from the stockers 240.
