Which way do I go???
I'm torn. Due to monetary limitations, I will be forced into making a decision about what to do as far as transport goes for this fall. As I see it, I have 3 choices.
1) Drop about $2,500 on a used bike. 2) Drop the gas tank, replace the rear brake lines, buy and install new fender, new stereo system, do minor body work, repaint, and do a tune and some performance upgrades (maybe even forced induction of some sort) on my '92 Ford Escort LX wagon with 165k miles. Keep in mind that this car has a legacy. 3) Drop less than $3,500 on a car. What do you think??? |
dont even think about option number 2....if you put performance mods (especially a turbo or s/c) on a wagon with 165k on it, thast just sad. Either buy a bike if ur not worried about cold or rain, or just get a used car. There are lots of cars available for under 3500

I would probably not go past an ECU modchip for performance (just to boost mileage and a bit of HP). The TC/SC thing was more of a joke. I might even consider a ZX2 or SVT drop, but not for a long time.

Buy a 94 honda accord, and be done with it. Bikes are limited by weather, and season, a honda will last forever.

You should definitley splice the escort with your olds, some sort of frankenf***er car or somesuch. and then jump the bike over it.
Actually, fix the brakelines, then drive the escort till you can afford somethin' with a warranty. |

I would say just do enough to get the escort safe and driveable, don't even worry a damn bit about the cosmetics.......and then save up for something better.

"Buy a 94 honda accord, and be done with it." Keep in mind however, these are one of the most frequently stolen vehicles. A friend has a 92 accord and she just had her's stolen for the 3rd, and looking like the last time. I guess it all depends on where you live, the club would be a necessary accessory regardless though. Not sure why that didn't occcur to her after the first time it was stolen.
