Audi tdi...it'll run forever, plus you'll have less than normal vw electrical gremlins.

aye the jag and the saab both have diesel engines...the jag is a 2.0l common-rail with about 130 bhp and the saab is a 1.9 turbo diesel with 150 bhp...
i do like the audi but when i drove it something just didn't click...plus my SO had tears in her eyes when we had to give the jag back she loved it so much...but i just didn't...worried that jag just says 40 year old! and i'm not (yet)

As long as your SO doesn't treat you like you're 40 for buying a jag, get that
Who cares what the others think, you're already set: an active life style, a person in your life who loves you, and enough cash on hand to consider buying a Jag

i have thought about a jeep/land rover/4x4 as i grew up on a farm and we used them all the time...but now i live in a city and most of my miles are done on motorways or city roads and i just can't bring myself to be an urbanite with a 4x4, the few occasions when i have been stuck in bad snow and could have done with a 4x4 don't give me enough of an excuse...plus my snow chains get me through the worst of it...
thanks for the suggestions though peeps! keep them coming! fb

I wouldn't take the Jag, seriously, they may look nice but you'll regret it when it starts fucking up on you. I have a friend who is a mechanic for Jaguar and he said that not even he'd would want to buy one. Saabs are nice but i'd still go for the Audi A4, them cars are pretty and as far as i know still the most reliable.

well just to let you know we had long test drive in the saab today and i think that is the one that we are going for! it really drives beautifully, loads of power, and the sports set up that we are going for really holds the road well too, even today when it was raining non-stop! so we are going for a vector sport 1.9tdi 150bhp with full leather trim and sport body kit, in black with 18inch silver alloys. it is quite understated and no one looks at you which i like, but it is super comfy and i think it looks great!
thanks for all your comments and advice! fb
