Just bought a Toyota Celica

Just put a deposit down on my new car. It is a Celica base model 1.8VVTi 140bhp. But IMHO I think it looks the dogs bollocks! :D I just feel like I have to share it with you all.

Congrats on the car. I've always liked the look of the new Celicas.

Lebell 02-21-2005 02:35 PM

Nice looking car, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Hope you got a discount for that :p

ElwoodBlues 02-21-2005 03:29 PM

Is the dog's bollocks good or bad?

GetRdone 02-21-2005 03:42 PM

Please tell me you wont be leaving it stock. That car is a nice candidate for a supercharger.....i think RippMods makes one.

I'm quite sure you mean the steering wheel is on the right side.

GetRdone 02-21-2005 11:15 PM

the physical "right" side.....but the actual "wrong" side. That is assuming the perspective of an america or someone else who drives on the left side of the road. Im sure to you ur steering wheels in the right place.

desal75 02-22-2005 07:57 AM

I have driven a GT-S model extensively. Has to be one of the best handling FWD cars on the road.

The Dogs Bollocks is a good thing in England

GetRdone 02-22-2005 09:51 AM

isnt bollocks like...your ass? So translated into non-british-people english, woulndt that mean "the dogs ass?"

THGL 02-22-2005 10:47 AM

I thought bollocks were balls... so the car would look like a dog's ball sack.

One should not try to over analyze a joke :p

vector_1979 02-22-2005 01:58 PM

the dog's bollocks ("bees knees" is a more polite version) excellent; top quality

Nice car, steer away from the TRD kit tho, it tends to look cheap and shoddy on the car. Also some slightly bigger rims and a 50mm drop would greatly improve its features.

Just suggestions of course:)

GetRdone 02-22-2005 03:53 PM

u mean the trd body kit dont u? because the trd supercharger we were talking about earlier doesnt look shoddy at all, plus it makes hp.

thatoneguy 02-22-2005 08:15 PM

I've always been a fan of the look of those newer-body style celicas, but haven't had the resources or whatnot to actually get one. Congrats on the car though, if you make any mods to it, post those, I like seeing what people do to their cars.

GetRdone 02-22-2005 09:40 PM

19's would be nice looking on that car....and if you dont believe they would fit, i beg to differ

Scorps 02-23-2005 12:04 PM

That looks different from the US model. Or is that the new design?

Yes the body kit. Mabye the one i saw was badly fitted or something but it didnt really seem to suit the car

GetRdone 02-23-2005 01:02 PM

ya that happens somethimes, so cars just look better with the stock body lines.. Although a lowering couldnt hurt at all.

Very slight differenences. The US Celicas have amber lamps on the side of the front bumper. And the UK version has a number plate on the front bumper!

edit: just noticed another difference - UK spec have clear side indicator lamp on front fender/wheel arch.

lk_3000 02-23-2005 05:21 PM

Is that the 2005 model? Celica's are nice but, too bad toyota's killing it after this year.

vbuser 02-24-2005 08:19 AM

hurrah!

It is the 2003MY which is in essence the current 2005MY. I heard they will bring back the Celica as the new Supra .

Cycler 02-25-2005 03:20 PM

Nice looking ride, you should enjoy it for years and years.

1slOwCD8 02-25-2005 04:38 PM

Wow, congrats on the new car. For a base model, its really nice, especially the interior. Is it a 5spd or 6?

What? No. The Celica is being discontinued and the Supra is staying discontinued.

GetRdone 02-27-2005 07:39 PM

Actually, i too have heard rumors that the supra will be coming back. Something to do with wanting to compete with the 2007 skyline

Suave 02-27-2005 08:25 PM

That is one sexy car!

vector_1979 02-28-2005 01:21 PM

Can't wait now. I pick the car up on Wednesday morning. Tick tock tick tock.....

GetRdone 02-28-2005 02:58 PM

is the car "brand new" like 0 miles (or 5 or so from test drives) or is it new for you. If it is brand new, make sure u drive it cautiosly for a couple weeks, i dont think beating on a brand new motor is the best idea.....since its not broken in i dont think... Anyone know if they break in the motor (like on a bench test or something) before they sell em? or do u have to give the car time to fully break in?

lite campfire 02-28-2005 06:27 PM

The owners maunal probably gives very detailed instructions on how to break in the car from new.

Maybe you've been hearing about that Lexus concept car which the press keeps calling a Supra?

The car is new to me, but it is just under 2 years old. So someone else has "broken" the engine in!!!

GetRdone 03-01-2005 09:24 AM

cool, then feel free to beat on it at will!

wrongfullyaccuzd 03-01-2005 03:18 PM

Great buy, I've always loved Celicas. I'm very jealous.

Church 03-01-2005 08:54 PM

Yeah, VERY nice car. Has to be one of my favourite domestics. Nice buy!

/me hacks the Transportation files to get the info from your plate letters ;)

pinoychink790 03-01-2005 08:57 PM

Congratulations! I wish i could own a Toyota Celica . That would be so cool.
