Find Me A Car
Ok everyone, its time for you all to find me a car, since i cant seem to do it for myself. If you live in the WI, IL, MN area (basicaly the midwest) you should help me find a car. Price needs to be sub $5000 due to the fact that im bound to spend thousands on mods. I prefer sports cars and sports coupes....turbo is preffered, rwd is also a plus. Manual transmission only, unless you find something realy special. Whoever finds me the best car will get a hug...maybe 2, depending on the vehicle. This car will be my new dailey driver, and a project. You will see the evolution of the vehicle, right here on tfp. Now get to work !!! /...........................please.

GetRdone is also open to pretty much any cool car idea, he's flirted with the idea of a 12-second van, a 300 horsepower turbo-neon, and even a old school 1983 Datsun.
If anyone really wants to piss him off though, find an amazing car that's in Michigan (inside joke).

One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub together. They each bought a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

Mustang SVO / 87-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. 2.3 4-cyl turbo, ~190hp/240tq from the factory (and a tough-as-nails engine that will withstand a LOT of boost, as in ~24 psi), all except a minority of the T-Birds were 5-speed manual, RWD, they're both on the Fox chassis which means a lot of Mustang chassis/suspension parts will bolt up (however they all came with things like 4-wheel disc brakes, improved suspension geometry, etc). The Thunderbirds even had ABS which was quite rare back then.
I had an '88 T-Bird. It was well ahead of its time, and a lot of fun to drive. I always got the most puzzled looks from people who would hop in and see the manual shifter and 18 psi factory boost gauge--not something you'd expect from a big 80s Ford! I also noticed in my travels to WI that you can't spit without hitting an F-Body with a for sale sign in it. I'm sure you can find one of those pretty cheap, they're fun cars. |

Im not really a ford guy, but that is a good suggestion. Ill keep an eye out. There is always something nice about having a car that NO-ONE thinks is fast, then blowing there doors off. If you actually know of one of these cars for sale, couldnt hurt to drop me a pm.

www.autotrader.com
www.cars.com You can find pretty much anything on either of those two websites, within your price range and in your area.

BEEN DONE TO DEATH. I search both of those sites 2-3 times dailey. There is really nothing good for sale right now, winter in WI is not the best time to look for a car. The whole reason for this post is that those sites just arent working, im hoping maybe someone here has a car, a friend with one, or has seen any good newspaper listings.

How about a DSM? Im sure you can find one under 5k if you dont mind an older gen. talon or eclipse, and obviously itll be turbo and awd if you find the right one. Im sure a turbo upgrade, some internals, and bolt ons can easily get you in the 12s or fasterr. Or just buy eg or ek civic for a couple of grand, and swap a k20 and boost it.

Thanks alot MerkurGuitars, Ill go pretty much anywhere in WI to see the car, assuming its an interesting prospect, i appreciate the help. 1slOwCD8, i do like dsm's, i actually prefer the older ones because of the 6 bolt motor, thus no crankwalk. Ive been tryin to find one for some time, but it seems when i do they are either already modified and thus in danger of being abused, or automatic. Thanks tho.

haha, i only hate michigan because it seems to spite me. When im on autotrader and i see a nice car, says lets say 110 miles away. I think great thats not a horrible drive. I check the location and see its in michigan and realize autotrader takes the DIRECT distance thus, a 3 hour drive turns into a 7 hour drive cuz i gotta go around that damn lake.

i have no idea how she managed to do that.....she was loopy tho. The sr20 swap is sadly never as cheap as it seams. Ur gonna need to pay around 2g's for a front clip, and then have it delivered to a industrial or commercial location. I woulndt try to do the swap withouth the clip, thers some wierd things that u need for the swap that NEVER come with the engine /tranny packages you buy.
