Jeep Hurricane Concept Vehicle
Hurricane represents the continued success of bold concept vehicles for the brands as a means of demonstrating Chrysler Group’s creative and mechanical expertise. For example, powerful powertrain performance is an understatement considering the Hurricane is not just HEMI-equipped, but HEMI squared. There are two 5.7-liter HEMI engines in the vehicle: one in the front and one in the back. Both engines deliver 335 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque – a total of 670 hp and 740 lb-ft of torque.
And it can turn in place!!! I want one, it will never be built but maybe the steering and trans system will make it to the sales floor. http://rockcrawler.com/reviews/jeep/...grass1_550.jpg http://rockcrawler.com/reviews/jeep/.../road1_550.jpg http://rockcrawler.com/reviews/jeep/...iagram_650.jpg http://rockcrawler.com/reviews/jeep/...5/tbox_650.jpg http://rockcrawler.com/reviews/jeep/..._turn2_550.jpg |
so the prop axel is being used as a weak ass torsionbar? i don't think so. jeep needs to go to hummer school on how to do offroad independent suspension.

least thats what i thought of when i first saw it... |
"Why Warthog sir?"
"Because M 12 LRV is too long to say in conversation, son." "I think it looks more like a cat... you know, like a puma." ... "Now you see those two tow hoooks? They looks like tusks. Now what kind of an animal has tusks?" "A walrus." "Didn't I just tell you to stop making up animals?" :D |
Two hemi's..... interesting. Does it have a full carbon body? I remember seeing something like that somewhere, i think it was this car.
|
I saw something kinda like this at the 2004 Chicago Auto show.
http://upload.pifiu.com/uploads/2005-jan/CarShow019.jpg Kind of a bad photo :p. It's a VW but I forgot what they called it. |
wicked jeep, maybe a reality in another 10 to 15 years
|

It looks silly.
Might be fun to drive though. Mr Mephisto |

I believe they're just talking about the effect of a single driving input to a center-diff axle causing a rotational force on the entire axle. Stop both tires, turn the prop shaft, and the axle has to rotate with the propshaft. But if you use a prop shaft for each corner the effect is removed. Not a big deal in practice though engineers would notice the loads. Anyway, it's a concept car. Dual hemi's would mean terrible compromises for anything but a George Barris one-off. |
have no idea what you guys are talking about, but it looks really cool to me. I'd like to drive on of those
|
Haha, my imageupload was written over.
|
If it handles like the Warthog in the Halo games, it'd be a blast to drive.
|
Pretty bad ass design, hopefully it off roads well. Just imagine the gas mileage :)
