Trouble Starting

I have a 93 Toyota 4Runner. Lately I've been having trouble starting it. It cranks OK but I have to keep pumping the gas until it eventually turns over. I replaced the plugs and air filter, with no improvement. What should I do next?

Some things to think about checking:

Injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel rail, main relay, fuel pump solenoid, plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor

also check the ecm for any codes that might be present. autozone and most auto parts stores will do this for free. fuel filter? last time it was changed. check fuel pressure, let us know.

If it is fuel injected don`t touch the accelerator pedal. The engine management system should take care of fuel mixtures.

Its not fuel injected. I just have to mash down on the pedal and then pump it to get it started. Doesn't happen though when the truck is warm, if that means anything. Thanks for all the suggestions, I geuss I just have to try these things one at a time.

Today I noticed a real small crack in the distributer cap so I'll replace that. If still no luck, I'll start checking on the fuel pressure and the, uh, cold start injector.

Bear with me here, I'm no mechanic!

Thanks

Just as a follow up-
When I replaced the distributer cap I found that the crack had leaked water, corroding the connection of the center wire going into the cap. It was so corroded I couldn't even remove it. I don't see how the truck even ran! I replaced the cap and wires and now she runs fine.
I geuss that explains why the wet weather made it worse!

Thanks for all your suggestions!
