That front looks really bad..
Way too many vents on the hood.. Almost looks like a hotel with balconies of varying size. I do like the back though. Spoiler looks fitting, and the tailights and exhaust are appealing to me. Not sure about the little red light in the middle of the bumper though?

The U.S. market car has fewer vents--I've seen it in Car & Driver already. I think it's great--and a huge surprise--that they kept the LS2 engine in it's Corvette tune. Usually they do something to reduce power in the cheaper car, but I guess it wasn't neccessary with the added weight. For a performance car, I'd pass on it, but I bet a lot of guys with kids will buy them for the power and back seats.

In fact, this isn't even the Pontiac GTO, so that's why the front and rear look so different from what we're getting.
The car pictured here is the 2004 Vauxhall Monaro VXR.

for whats its worth, the next gto, will be built ont he zeta platfrom that holden is devloping for global usage (going to be the plaftrom of choice in n. america) will be getting completely different sheetmetal than the monaro. GM has a target rollout of that platform in 2006.

current gto is basicly on the omega platform that the US saw as the catera... hell holden basicly built their current lineup around that platform but tweaked it slightly. the revised version of that platform is the sigma platform that cady is using for the cts, srx, sts and forth coming xts.
the buick roadmaster is the first car slated for production on the zeta platform for the 2006 calender year. the buick velite, GTO, Grand prix is scheduled for the 2007 CY. the Impala and Camaro for 2008 CY and the monte carlo in the 2009 CY. also interstingly ford is looking to go ahead with their daisy platfrom for the 2006 CY. I guess the GT is doing well enough they think they can do a nother low volume platfrom. |
