Audi A7

Power will come from the same 4.2-liter V8 found in the Audi A6/A8 sedans, and the interior will include three rows of seating and an optional full-length glass moon roof. Expect pricing for 4.2-liter models in the $60,000 range.

I think it looks pretty cool. What's your opinion?

powerclown 12-11-2004 09:05 AM

The color is throwing me a bit...in the right color, I think it would look awesome. I like it better than a BMW X5 or a Range Rover. Great wheels!

I like it. I dont really mind the color, but obviously thats an option that you can change. I dont really like the taillights though.

silent_jay 12-11-2004 10:02 AM

Is this not the Pikes Peak Quattro concept? Found here http://www.audiworld.com/news/03/nai.../content.shtml

I like it, like powerclown said the colour is throwing me a bit, but other than that I've liked it since they introduced it at the 2003 North American Auto Show

Is that a slightly mutated FX45?

Tech 12-11-2004 12:49 PM

i agree, rear tailights look VERY much like the FX45

So...where would this leave a 4.2 V8 powered All-Road?

Yes, it seems identical to the concept car. Great pics at that link, too. I also see a resemblance to the FX45; I like that one too.. :p

Does this mean it's still just a concept?

Halx 12-11-2004 11:37 PM

it IS the concept car.. are you SURE this is going into production?

Nimisys 12-11-2004 11:47 PM

umm isnlt this just another reskinned toureg/cayenne?

Ya, I think it probably is since they are all owned by VW. I"m no expert but I think its cheaper using a successful platform than coming up with one unique chassis for only one vehicle. That being said...I really liked the Toureg and wouldn't mind this Audi in my garage either. Very nice.

I was thinking the same - I keep seeing a couple of the Touaregs down the road from our office - the same garages also seem to regularly have a Bentley Coupe (the W10 job) hanging around as well. I would never have thought that what appears to be a small second hand car dealership would have ever had that sort of money.

Dyze 12-15-2004 08:45 PM

Looks like Mr X5 had a nice threesome with Ms Touareg and Mrs Cayenne... Bastard!

GetRdone 12-15-2004 08:55 PM

I get a similar feeling, looks alot like the tourag and the cayenne. (then again, why wouldnt it, they are all linked together by the parent company) For that style, id go with a Cayenne S (sp?) instead.

sanjuanworm 12-24-2004 08:03 AM

but how will it do in the mud????????

If it's based off the Tourag pretty damn well I imagine. It's good having VW-nut friends who do something with their SUV aside from taking it down the street to the carwash.

GetRdone 12-24-2004 11:07 AM

The tourag does actually have quite a bit of ground clearance and travel, and from what ive heard it performs much better than any other suv its size...its definately more than just a soccer mom transport vehicl.e

lite campfire 12-27-2004 02:37 AM

MORE bloatmobiles? Ak! That's just not 'Audi' to me (looking beyond any equaly-superficial comments I could make on the design).

Audi is, Porsche isn't.

Nimisys 12-27-2004 07:13 AM

true but the VAG group has always had very close ties to porsche. the toureg/cayenne is just the most recent example.

Kurant 12-27-2004 07:36 AM

The Pikes Peak was replaced with this, and in the stuff I read at the Audi dealer while our VW was in for service, it's called the Q7. Probably changed now.

It is going into production after the Allroad is gone and done. This year will be the last year of the Allroad.

GetRdone 12-27-2004 11:17 AM

did it say which engine it would sport? Maybe the 8cyl like the vw, or the turbo motor like the cayenne s?

Kurant 12-27-2004 03:46 PM

The small blurb I read is it will be available in the twin-turbo V8 the RS6 sports.

True or not who knows, all of it's rumours. They didn't mention any other engine stuff.

It is, to some extent.

VW no longer uses platforming persee, they use similar unibody construction, etc.

It should be quite a performer both onroad and off, since it shares Touareg components and design. Unfortunately, that means us VW guys won't get a 3 seater Touareg, more than likely.
