2000 Volvo S80 T6

OK Folks, I need some help here. I have a chance of getting my hands on a 2000 Volvo s80 T6 for a real good unbeatable price. I don't know much about Volvo's, thats why I am counting on you for help. I need to know the Pros and Cons of the vehicle. Anything I should know before purchasing. The guy that has it, is supposed to be calling me back today (11/9/04) and see what I have decided. Please help! Thanks in advance.

Volvo for life.

Safe car, good car, dad uses it. I love it when he drives me around. No worries with a Volvo. It's like, cheap and good.

Find yourself a good Volvo-only mechanic and you'll be set!

I own a '94 940 Turbo with 172k miles and counting. No complaints here. Any repairs have been surprisingly cheap, too.

what the other two said should be enough to hopefully get you to buy the car. I have friends who own and love them, and they are ridiculously safe, enjoy the new ride.

Why are you asking us?!?! Go get it. Volvo's are safe, relatively reliable, and I like the T6.

What's a great price? How many miles? Does this have the twin turbo 6 in it (I would stay away if that were the case, depending on price and mileage)?

I know a shit load about volvo's as my current stable includes an 88 760 (189,000 miles), an 89 740 wagon (310,000 miles) and my latest edition of a 04 v70r (12,000 miles). I have owned in the past 2 240's as well, all have gone over the 300,000 mile mark.

They certainly don't make em like they used to, but that is still relative reliability wise.

For the best answer, I'd go snoop around swedespeed.com in their forums. You'll find the answers your looking for quickest.

Well, no car's a good deal if it isn't what you were looking for really. But I personally have driven Volvos for many years as have other members of my family with some pretty good results. Even the new ones are built to last (larger bearings, able to run on less than 1/3 their total oil capacity etc.) and they are pretty nimble for heavy cars (some predictable understeer). If you're into flashy they aren't it, but they are comfortable, reliable, and solid. I really like the S80 and wouldn't mind one myself, but it is mutually exclusive with Grad school.

So what's the word, boss?

The first year model of the S80's (MY1999) had a fair amount of problems, and so in general I think people try to go for a MY2001 or later model as they'd gotten all the bugs worked out. MY2000 is sortof in the gray area. As for the T6, I wouldn't be too worried about the twin turbos. Volvo's been working with turbos for a long time and I'm confident they know how to put a turbo or two on an engine and still be plenty durable. They provide a nice amount of power in my mother's XC90 T6. It's bound to be pretty nice in a sedan. And as mentioned before, go over to www.swedespeed.com and see what people over there say.

As an owner of a new S60, I love my car. I love Volvo's design both inside and out. I'm not at all worried about the life of the turbo in mine. I plan on taking care of it and have faith that it'll take care of me for many years to come.
I will be jealous of your rear-seat legroom, though...

Well thanks again. I bought the car this past weekend. '99 Volvo S80 T6 60,000 miles. Not a scratch on the car. One Owner, Garage kept. Full diagnostic from a Volvo dealer showed nothing. Price=$9997.00

I'm going to assume you've never posted photos before, if you have then just ignore this reply.

You'll need to find some online storage that'll let you link to files. Did your ISP give you any storage space with your account? If they did, just upload your photos there then link to them here. If not, then you'll need to look around for free storage (but make sure they allow off-site linking of files).

Like this:
[ url]http://yourispname/youraccount/photoname[ /url]
(just take the spaces out before "url" and "/url".

If you don't have any hosting, go join Swedespeed.com and one of the members there, Kaizai, will host your pictures on deepnet.info/swedespeed for you.
