small block chevy intake.# 340234
hi,does any one have an idea where i can find what it went on ? its a 4 barrel cast, iron old. i have searched and to no avail. thank you .!!!

#340261 is the closest number I can find installed in a production vehicle from 55 to 75. Do you have the casting date? Would narrow down the year at least. Judging by what I see here it should be a late 73 or 74. Looks like Chevy went to the 6 digit casting numbers in 74. May be a truck intake. They are harder to track since people have not formed the truck databases as they have with car castings.

Looks like it is from a 1974-1976 350. QJet. Of course 350's were on Chevelle's, Caprice's, Camaro's and Nova's. Horsepower applications from 165 thru 250.
I found it on one of my obscure bookmarked websites. http://www.nastyz28.com/sbcmenu.html#intake I use it for BBC parts ID's. Have fun. :) EDIT: Sorry, that info is for the #340261 but that site might lead you somewhere. Good Luck |
These guys have it listed, but I don't understand their table.

I saw tracy perf too, looks like its a list of intakes they have for sale and their date codes. Makes nice for numbers restos.
I used Chevy By the Numbers to get the info on the #261 and thought of nastyz28, but could not for the life of me remember the name last night. I have a random one no one has ever identified. Its an early sixties based on the old style carb flange and runner design but its aluminum with tapped holes in the runners. Best guess anyone has had is that it is a Chevy test intake from the developement labs. |
Does your intake look a little like this old one that i got?
sorry about the shitty pic http://home.cogeco.ca/~tylerdonlon/other/intake_01.jpg |
