New CAR !!!!
Hey, I finally have my project over... well part of it...
Honda Del sol with the b16z vtec... This winter ill try to fit a turbo in it... Alot of people said its almost the perfect motor... still I would prefer a nice h22a  or a Integra RS Base and Sir Head (for the money) Anyways, tell me what you think about it: www.cardomain.com/id/light_hammer Its not finish... and I fix it up by myself ;) and props goes to my father who gave me hes time. thanks |
When the Del Sol came out it had instant respect from me as the replacement for the lovely little CRX, and home to the then-unique VTEC 4-pot. It was also the first production model with the now relatively commonplace and well-trendy folding hard-top roof.
Are you sure you want to turbocharge it?! Anyway, I like the car; and will look forward to seeing it finished. |
hey, nice car! isnt that a d16 not a b16? anyway, good luck with the project, a turbo in the car will be awesome with a big ass intercooler. Oh yeah, NO ALTEZZA TAILLIGHTS PLEASE!! they r sooo dumb.
|
Agreed on the altezza's, it's too 1998 for anyone to take it seriously. Slam it and give it a tasteful body kit, IMO. Stage 1 turbo, nice port and polish, big ass intercooler, sport cam, valve springs, maybe a chip, 4-2-1 ceramic headers, and a cat back. At least that's what I'd do.

Turbocharghing a vtec motor? It can be done, but it's a pain in the ASS. Sure you wanna mess with it? ;)
I'd prob. drop a B18-B in there and turbo that. |
Hey thanks for the responses... Yea sorry I made a mistake its a D16Z.... wish it would be a b series motor but ohh well... anyway for the part having big probs fitting the turbo.... I dont know supposedly its not that hard....
Anyways if you have some info for the turbo setting shoot it i wanna know ;) Thanks |
if you want to go all-motor you should consider an ls/vtec swap. I've had mine for about 3,000 kms and the swap turned my car from a high 15 second quarter mile to a high 13/low 14 second car. If you want to go turbo, i've seen some crazy fast sohc motors that have been boosted, or you could drop a b18a/b for cheap and turbo that. One of the fastest civics in my city (the owner built my motor) is an ls/vtec turbo in a civic coupe. It dynoed at 318 whp and 240 lbs/trq.

Damn 318whp/240lbs.... that the probs with honda motors.. lot of hp but no torque
:( anyway ive seen a sohc vtec turbo too... and supposedly its one of the easiest thing to put a turbo in it. Still I need the turbo for it... and the vtec dosent improve the Hp on my car :( Some friends told me to put a nitrous kit in it instead of busting my head for the turbo :S So what do I do.. Buy a turbo or buy a Nitrous kit, Sell THAT CAR thanks |
If i had your motor, i would buy the edelbrock full turbo kit. I was gonna buy a civic and buy the edelbrock kit, but i ended up getting a 95 v6 accord.

Happy turboingps youll get shit loads more tourqe |
Supercharging works better on a VTEC.
|
If I had a dime for every forum post I've seen by a Honda owner claiming they will be installing a turbocharger and/or Japan-market engine parts in the near future..

What?? "I have turbo." "I have a supercharger." I would rather hangout with the second guy  |

Well a supercharger does have that whiny sound at all times, but i agree, the sound of a blow off valve and hearing the turbo spool up is awesome.
