article

ShaniFaye 09-24-2004 07:45 AM

me likes!!!!!!!!! I'll finally be able to replace my 95 camaro :) It will take me that long to save up the money..I bet its gonna be expensive

onetime2 09-24-2004 07:48 AM

I like it. May just consider buying one if it looks that good in production and the performance is there.

CrazySaturn 09-24-2004 08:08 AM

Ummm, that's not at all what it will look like. No one knows, that's just a fan drawing.

Willravel 09-24-2004 08:40 AM

Yea, dude. It's in the article. Just a guess. But who knows? I hope we get to see the concept soon. *saves $$*

powerclown 09-24-2004 09:01 AM

Pretty sweet...I like Ford's interpretation of the old Mustang a bit more. I dunno, maybe from some different angles, hard to say. The wheels are hot. Wonder what the interior looks like.

Dane Bramage 09-24-2004 10:17 AM

Hell yeah! Very retro and very cool. I was always a fan of the '68 Camero, and this is certainly a throw back to those great cars.

Nice find, BTW.

Well that sucks. This is one of those times that I actually like the concept drawing.

castex 09-24-2004 10:19 AM

The front's okay-ish. The sides are a bit silly, and the whole retro thing is just too dull for words, darlings.

Rdr4evr 09-24-2004 10:45 AM

Indeed. I am sick of the retro thing as well. In 2007 you would expect manufacturers to take a new approach. Be original, dont copy the past.

Stare At The Sun 09-24-2004 11:09 AM

All I can say; it better have a v8, have close to 300 hp, and be affordable for middle class. That is all.

Moonduck 09-24-2004 11:51 AM

Well, I'm glad to see em bringing it back. I thought it was criminal to have gotten rid of it in the first place.

I still like Mustangs better though =)

Seans4.2 09-24-2004 12:03 PM

that is more like a 69 than a 68. see the lines coming off the wheel wells?

exizldelfuego 09-24-2004 07:27 PM

I enjoy the retro design thing, actually. There are a lot of really cool old cars out there, and I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a long, hard look at what design principles made some particular car a classic and then reintroducing those same principles with a more modern flair to them. I'm not familiar with the Camero stylings of yore, but the strong angular muscular appearance looks good. I dig the whisps off the wheel-wells, the exaggerated rear haunches, and the slim snout on the hood.

If you're dealing with a brand which has some particular lineage, there's nothing wrong with staying true to that lineage and borrowing things from its past. It invokes a sense of nostalgia and draws upon its past reputation. The only time it's a bad thing is when the new product doesn't live up to its predecessors.

RaDiAn 09-24-2004 09:12 PM

I thought it would gone forever....Very nice I like the retro look too! Seeing that it is just a fan drawing, whoever but they have the right idea for sure!!

Halx 09-24-2004 09:13 PM

Looks too much like the 2005 Cobra

Thats really interesting how the lines spin off the flared tire arches. It makes it unique and cool but at the same time it looks hotwheel-ish.

krwlz 09-25-2004 01:56 PM

See my, Dad owns a 67 camaro, and to me, this car is sweet, because it really goes back to that. That and 67-69 were pretty much the only camaro's I've ever liked.

If it actually comes to production that way, Well damn, I would consider buing it.

But 300 horse, and affordable would have to be a must. From the pony car angle, I would have to assume it would be comparable to the mustang.

On a side note, I will admit ford did a good job with the new mustang, but I just don't like mustangs.

punx1325 09-25-2004 02:23 PM

Very sick looking, glad to see they are bringing it back.

Lockjaw 09-25-2004 07:41 PM

The Camaro when it comes back definately will have over 300 horsepower. I mean the LS1 F-bodys made 350 at the crank. I highly doubt they'd take a giant leap backwards in power like that especially with a 300 horsepower Mustang out and a 345 horsepower Charger coming out soon.

twilightfoix 09-30-2004 11:55 PM

So it's not exactly what the 2007 camaro will look like but it's quote "very close"
Quote:

We get our best idea of what the new-for-2007 Camaro will look like from the members of cheersandgears.com, a website of and for GM enthusiasts. This drawing by artist Chris Pauwels is said to be very close. Many members on the site have close connections to GM and give the rendering credence.
so yeah the final design will be tweeked here and there but the over all look will be the same. and personally it makes me happy :D

herostar 10-01-2004 12:13 AM

It has gone retro just like the mustang. I love this new Comaro. The latest body type of comaro looks like shit IMHO.

Glava 10-01-2004 06:22 AM

Everything but the tiny round headlights is beautiful.

Scorps 10-01-2004 08:28 AM

Looks good but like the old concept drawing

cxnaj20 10-01-2004 10:18 PM

Looks like they're taking Ford's idea with the 05 Stang?

Kurant 10-02-2004 06:17 AM

The Charger is a 4-door sedan based on the 300c chassis, it's not even in the same class as a high 12 second Cobra. It's yet another 14 second Hemi driven car.

Nothing can compare to what you can do do an '03 Cobra as opposed to anything Dodge or Chevy offers. The Camaro will probably come with an LS1 motor, and go mid/low 13's like the C5 Vette did, anything else and it's a waste of time and money spent in production. It will most likely be put on the GTO chassis/drivetrain. Probably made a little bit lighter. Although, at this point it's all speculation.

I think they look is sick, but Chevy is a little proud of what they make. I was actully quite impressed that MSRP on a Vette was $800 lower then the C5. I think Chevy made a great move with the Vette in the right direction, if they continue, they could be right there with Ford. Remember though, no Cobra for the '05 models has been released yet from what I've seen, who knows how bad ass that thing is going to be.

todd 10-02-2004 06:38 AM

Damn thats nice. I like it a lot. It looks a lot like the 05 Mustang though.

I'd be willing to bet those 2 red 3D renders aren't the official ones - looks like the work of just a fan who saw the concept sketche(s) and modeled it for themselves.

breastboy 10-02-2004 09:17 AM

looks pretty nice..similar to the 05 mustang..does anyone know where it's gonna be built? i thought they shut down the plant in quebec that built the last camaros.

They rip it down......so I don't know because it said that plant was the only plant in North America that is "aloud" to build the Camaro's and Firebird's

krwlz 10-02-2004 01:18 PM

According to an article I read, they got rid of the camaro so they could tear that plant down, because it was expensive, and now that its gone, they can start building for the future.

tspikes51 10-04-2004 01:43 PM

I like it!!! Kind of like the 1st gen SS and the 4th gen all rolled into one.

mrbill700 10-06-2004 02:21 AM

Mmmmmmm. . .
wow!

breastboy 10-06-2004 03:04 AM

maybe they discontinued the camaro for a while so they would have an excuse the fark the union at the quebec plant by shutting it down and starting up a plant somewhere else and hiring cheaper labour to build the new camaro..farkin' union GM works workers make way too much over here in canada

silver26 10-06-2004 03:30 AM

I knew Ford was gonna set a trend with their new mustang. I believe that Dodge is doing a charger like this as well.

Lockjaw 10-06-2004 04:20 AM

Nah the Charger isn't going to be retro. Hold on I'll post up a picture of the Charger.

Oh and to answer the question about the power plant...the new Camaro likely will get the LS2 for it's SS version.

On a quick glance, I thought it looked like the mustang... I was wrong.

Car & Driver article

Lockjaw 10-06-2004 04:35 AM

Well you probably are thinking about the lower portion of the front fascia. And the 05 Mustang does share that same look on the lower part and they both will have a shark nose look on the front. But yeah not really all that retro.

Scorps 10-06-2004 10:25 AM

That charger is ugly and why is it a 4 door??
