Strange Noise in my Civic
1995 Civic, FWD
As I was about a mile from home tonight, I started hearing a strange low-pitch clicking noise that varied with the speed of the car. It sort of sounded like it could be coming from the front end, but it's hard to tell for sure. I looked under the car with a flashlight, but I didn't see anything hanging down there as though I'd picked something up. It's not something that has been progressively getting louder--it just came out of nowhere at all. Any ideas?

Sounds like gravel in the treads. It happened to me when they did that annoying oil/gravel paving method. I had my brother look at the tires with a flashlight as I slowly backed away, and he shouted to stop when he saw the chunk of rock. I'm sure it isn't good for tires to have that in there. Deep treads tend to pick up small chunks of stuff, and I seem to remember you mentioning somehting about new tires not too long ago.
