Motorcycle mechanic? No way.
Just wondering if there are any other people out there that love riding their motorcycle for hours on end but absolutely despise repairing it, modifying it, or just acting like they know anything about the mechanics of it. I always feel like the biggest moron when people find out that I ride (1998 BMW R1200C, 1978 Harley Super Glide) because they immediately want to talk about cc's and cylinders and exhaust and blah, blah, blah.
The crazy thing is that I can sit and watch American Chopper and The Great Bike Build-Off every night of the week and be completely riveted. Who knows...maybe I'm just intimidated by the whole thing. |

I guess nobody feels that way...?
I love riding my FXDX and do almost everyday. However, I also enjoy working on it. Unlike my car, everything is right out there to see and access. I purchased a maintenance manual and have had fun working on the bike. Have toyed with the idea of getting a second bike - the new K1200S or maybe just the K1200RS. Any thoughts on the Rs versus the Ks? |

When I had a lot more free time (and less money) I used to love working on my bikes. Never had a street bike but had many off-road bikes over the years. Probably the most enjoyment I ever got was taking a basket case RM 125 and restoring it to better than new. The thing was beautiful when I was done. Ended up selling it to help with a down payment for a house and never even got to ride it beyond test rides to get it set up properly.
