This is beautiful...A blend of old and new.

raven12 09-04-2004 06:01 PM

Sweet, if only i had enough money to buy one :(

powerclown 09-04-2004 06:58 PM

I really like this car...the nostalgic styling is fantastic.
Contrast this with what Pontiac did with the '04 GTO. (ie, screwed it up)
This car rocks!

oooh! just checked out the interior; its a modernized version of the past models as well! Love the gauges.

Stare At The Sun 09-04-2004 08:54 PM

The center console is very unispiring, however, overall, i give it a B.

dun_ask 09-05-2004 12:14 AM

very nice gauges...yeah...n the middle console does kinda look...ergggg

OpieCunningham 09-05-2004 12:49 AM

Wow. I want that.

How much does it cost?

And which one of you is going to buy it for me?

Asuka{eve} 09-05-2004 12:50 AM

I like the car but like the others the middle console is ungghhh.

todd 09-05-2004 08:07 AM

I like.

Have you seen the GTR?

Deuce66 09-05-2004 12:53 PM

The original concept for that looked WAY better =/

cattdogg 09-05-2004 01:44 PM

Much much better then the last one! I prefer 'real' musclecars though, gt350 mmmmm. :D

BoCo 09-05-2004 03:46 PM

Nice looking car, but I bet most of them will be held back in the looks department with ugly stock 16" wheels.

Ilow 09-05-2004 03:59 PM

didn't we just have a thread on this car not too long ago? oh well, if I had the money it wouldn't be the first car on my list, but I'm sure it's a pretty fun car.

Esoteric 09-05-2004 05:05 PM

That's the first time I've seen the inside, and it looks dope. The middle console is pretty bleh though. :/

Asuka{eve} 09-05-2004 05:10 PM

Do any others think that in time this is going to be one hell of a classic?

RaDiAn 09-05-2004 06:27 PM

It does have a classic look about it....I like what I've seen sofar! I wonder how much I would like it in person?

wrongfullyaccuzd 09-05-2004 07:36 PM

That's pretty hot....except for the grill mounted lights. Doesn't look right.

On second glance, I like them. The front of the car is big enough to accomodate them. Well done.

Ramega 09-05-2004 07:52 PM

I like the grill mounted headlamps too, a real throwback to the old fastbacks.

Now the GT-R, that's a bad ride. But I'll keep my '96 Cobra for now.

MSD 09-05-2004 08:50 PM

The front looks too turned-down around the corners. That's the only problem I have with it. I don't see what's wrong with the stock 16" wheels, nothing wrong with flashing some rubber.

I hope so. I hate the oversized pimp wheels showing up on new cars these days.

Lockjaw 09-07-2004 02:46 AM

The GTs are going to come with 17s stock and 18s as an option later on.
The main problem is the skinny tires on the back.

THGL 09-07-2004 04:52 AM

I remember reading that the color of the gauge lights can be adjusted to over a 100 different hues (I think it's an option, not std.) so each owner can have a "custom" look to the interior.

Scorps 09-07-2004 09:07 AM

This is the only ford design I have ever liked(besides the Shelby's)

Its alright looking. Whats with all companies doing the retro thing now? Rather than making cars look more futuristic, they are looking more dull.

Well I watched a show on this car and the guy that runs Ford wanted something that looked like the original Mustage and well I think they got as close as they could be! Now if your talking about the Chevy SSR and the Plymouth Prowler I don't know what those guys where thinking!

Rdr4evr 09-07-2004 09:51 AM

No, im talking like mixing their old model with the new model. Like this Mustang. I cant really think of them off the top of my head, but I will list if I find.

Halx 09-07-2004 10:12 AM

what? PT Cruiser? VW Beetle?

If you're asking WHY.. because it SELLS.

Personally, I hate Ford, but this design is a real winner.

This is an great option...Any pics of the different interior 'themes'??
I hope this makes its way into other cars. The concept of altering the UI of a car interior....whoduhthunkit?

Yeah, I guess that is what doesn't make sense. Why are people so infatuated with the retro style? You would think we would be going into the future design wise rather than taking a few big steps backwards. .

Glory's Sun 09-07-2004 12:20 PM

I really love the look of this car..can't wait to see it in a showroom..

however I have to agree that the original concept design looked better

Cynthetiq 09-07-2004 12:22 PM

what constitutes a future design?

IMO the car designs here in the US are totally bland because well the US market deems it so. Why do we get a boring looking Accord when the rest of the world get the real Accord but here it's rebadged as a TSX?

Americans like cars that look like sedans or saloons. You won't see anything that looks like a Renault Megane as they aren't "car shaped."

Lockjaw 09-07-2004 12:33 PM

The futuristic cars are either outlandish and age style wise even earlier or they are just the same old boring pieces of junk. Not to say more modern styling isn't good but the 65 Mustang the 71 Fastback etc...are all classic designs that stand the test of time. That's why you have people of all ages trying to find them and restore them. You don't see people trying to restore a 1984 Civic and likely you never will.
More stylistic cars are coming out (Cadillacs,Chryslers) of American designers but I'd take a classic inspired Mustang or Camaro over something that is supposed to be futuristic but doesn't look a bit like the cars heritage. Case in point the Ford Probe. That thing was SUPPOSED to be a Mustang and futuristic. Thankfully the Mustang fans resoundingly said no and Ford didn't put the Mustang name on it.

Something along the lines of Ferrari and Lamborghini. I’m not saying all design concepts should look like that or for that matter be sport cars. I’m talking more in design terms, like the curvy and aerodynamic style. These new retro modern cars are boxy and dull. It does not attempt a futuristic design. I remember back in the 80s people were like “oh cars are going to fly in 2000”. So much for that idea :).

Cynthetiq 09-07-2004 01:22 PM

people can't even drive in straight lines let alone 3 dimensions...

here's a ferrari wagon...

http://www.h3.dion.ne.jp/~hideki-y/456front.JPG

http://www.h3.dion.ne.jp/~hideki-y/456rear.JPG

doesn't look all that different does it?

as far as curvy and aerodynamic... they were doing that in the late 80s and 90s.... the trend now is more angles and boxes, more like it was in the 70s to 80s

I forgot which car designer it was.. but he said,"Do not be a slave to the drag co-efficient." Reason being is that cars will then all tend to be the same flat shape and without any style.

Rdr4evr 09-07-2004 01:50 PM

I was talking more along the lines of this.

Now how practical are either designs in hauling groceries? taking kids to school? going away for the weekend with 2 sets of golf clubs or luggage?

That's why I put up the picture of the Ferarri wagon, because that's at least a useful design.

powerclown 09-08-2004 08:37 AM

AWESOME!
The green color is straight out of the 70's.
Amazing idea...and it took Ford to think it up???

Scorps 09-08-2004 12:36 PM

I like the way the auto industry has gone back to box design, just like the Semi's they found out that the new design (ie. Kenworth T2000, didn't save as much fuel as they would have liked so they brought back the old W900 from the 80's). I just hope the new Monte Carlo rumored to go back to its 350(5.7L) rear wheel drive will be designed more like the classic!(and hope they don't mess it up like the GTO)

First off I would like to apoligize for "sucking at the internet". :p

Secondly I wouldn't call it all that much the same. Although I understand that it is not a proper vehicle for taking kids to school and all the such you mentioned. But I said not all concepts have to be like the Lamborghini and Ferrari in terms of “sportyness” and size. But I’m saying their design at least is looking into the future rather than past. Do you want to still be driving boxy cars in 2014?

Why not! I'm a fan of the classic muscle cars.
