Putting a manual transmission in a 2001 Grand Prix GTP
Well my friend wants to make a project vehicle and we where wondering what transmission would bolt up to a L67 engine (3.8 supercharged engine) and would handle the power?

I can't immediately think of any FWD manny trannies set up to handle 280 lbs ft. Im sure he would boost it even higher. I would look and see what tremec has to offer. I bet the tranny in the SRT-4 would be up to the task once you give it a few mopar upgrades. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

Check out what the Fiero guys use. I think the Getrag 282/284 transmissions hold up well enough to stock power output. Can't remember exactly. Head over to www.l67swap.com and see what they have to say. I'm a member over there as well, looking to stuff the L67 in my Olds. Good luck.

edit: check into the 5speed Getrag tranny from the early '90s GM 1/2 ton FWD trucks. Last edited by MSD; 08-27-2004 at 10:59 PM.. |
