Putting a manual transmission in a 2001 Grand Prix GTP

Well my friend wants to make a project vehicle and we where wondering what transmission would bolt up to a L67 engine (3.8 supercharged engine) and would handle the power?

I can't immediately think of any FWD manny trannies set up to handle 280 lbs ft. Im sure he would boost it even higher. I would look and see what tremec has to offer. I bet the tranny in the SRT-4 would be up to the task once you give it a few mopar upgrades. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

Im not really sure, but you might wanna look at Saab transmissions and see what they use. They are all FWD, GM, and seem to be able to handle a bit of power.

Check out what the Fiero guys use. I think the Getrag 282/284 transmissions hold up well enough to stock power output. Can't remember exactly. Head over to www.l67swap.com and see what they have to say. I'm a member over there as well, looking to stuff the L67 in my Olds. Good luck.

A mopar tranny isn't going to match up properly with a GM engine

edit: check into the 5speed Getrag tranny from the early '90s GM 1/2 ton FWD trucks.
