Concept Car: Nissan Skyline
I love this car... The Nissan Skyline is such an awesome import. I'd love to see it here in the USA.
----------- http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_001.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_002.jpg Nissan will continue building the GT-R in the 21st Century, providing the ultimate driving pleasure to even more people worldwide. In its next generation Nissan is looking to introducing the GT-R in other markets worldwide. In pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure Successive generations of the GT-R have consistently pursued the ultimate in driving pleasure. Over the years, the GT-R has continued to be a supreme-performance road-going car that delivers superb driving pleasure by responding faithfully to the driver's demands. Just sitting in the driver's seat of the GT-R produces a feeling of excitement that envelops the entire body. Achieving the ultimate in driving pleasure means that the car must perform exactly as the driver expects. Meeting this expectation requires a faithful response to the driving actions executed by the driver, and the car must convey accurate information to the driver. In other words, the driver has to be able to judge the vehicle's state accurately and instantaneously. Then, through the car's consistently response to the accelerator pedal, steering wheel and brake pedal, the driver enjoys the pleasure of controlling the car at will. There is feeling of solid trust and oneness that forms between the driver and the car in this process, confidently bringing out both the driver's skill and the car's maximum potential. http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_003.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_004.jpg Consistently providing the best specifications available in every era If drivers are to enjoy the ultimate in driving pleasure, the car's potential must be raised to the utmost limits. Successive generations of the GT-R have truly incorporated superior specifications even among vehicles in this segment. With its unrivaled power, the engine has delivered outstanding acceleration and top speed combined with a driving sensation. A superior braking system has provided powerful braking performance, and an outstanding suspension has enabled the GT-R to corner with remarkable quickness. The GT-R has been the showcase for the highest levels of acceleration, cornering and stopping capabilities. The delicate balance between the powerful engine and responsive suspension has been pushed as each system surpassed last generation technology. As a result of that never-ending process, the GT-R has continued to embody the most advanced technologies available in every era. http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_005.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_006.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_007.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_008.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_009.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_010.jpg Expanding the tradition globally in the 21st-Century Successive generations of the GT-R have already established an unshakable position in Japan as a result of incorporating the highest levels of technology available in pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure. That superior performance transcended the oceans to make the GT-R the focus of envious looks the world over. Nissan is developing a new generation of GT-R for the 21st Century with the aim of placing it in the spotlight of the global stage, beyond the borders of the Japanese market. The GT-R displayed at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show is a concept vehicle which delivers "Ultimate Driving Pleasure" with the best in world-class http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_011.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_012.jpg http://www.nissan.co.jp/MS/PRESS/COM...W/gt_r_013.jpg hi-res pics here |
I like the skyline too. If they did bring it to America, just gotta watch out for all of those racers.
|
Hummm I love the R-34's but this design is a little radical for me... But its very clean :D
|
They gotta stop watching star trek. The skyline deserves better than this.

I agree with sixate. The change from the r34 GTR to the new concept one is too radical. It looks more suited to being a 350Z variation rather than a Skyline one. I am surprised however that the speedo on the r34 only goes up to 200kmh....!
|
That speedo measures in MPH, not KM/H .....
And I've never thought the Skyline a good looking car, purposeful maybe, but not a looker. They're also much to lardy, need to go on a diet. |
Everyone prolly knows my answer to if I like it or not... Ruined, just ruined... :(
|
There is a place in America that you CAN get your own Skyline. It's a company called MotoREX in California. They import all varieties, from early R32's to the last couple R34's.
The Skyline was never intended to look good,(although I find it quite the looker), it was a purpose built car, and will never die as long as we have Gran Torismo on the Playstation. (Yes, I own several Skylines, all very well tuned). |
that skyline looks like one of those fugly GM concept cars.. I doubt that model will ever come out.
The skyline is one of the best ricers out there, to turn it into that pos is a sacrilege |
Maybe it's just because it's the concept car, but how do you shift? I see no shifter.
|
I saw pics of the r35 a few months ago somewhere, but Im not sure where. I think the design above is ugly and is nothing like I saw. I do think however it is not going to be either of those because I heard they were going to tone it down a bit to bring it to the U.S. Make it a 4 door, etc... Bull Shit I say, bring us the R34 for a good price and we will be happy, but dont bring us that concept, it is way to ugly.
|
If you want to see the available Skylines in America, go to www.skylinegtr.com
This is were you CAN have a legal Skyline. |

R34 definately takes the appearance crown. Of course that R35 concept is.. well.. a concept.. and the design should be toned down by the time the actual car is produced. |
i guess you guys don't but i dig the way the r35 concept looks.. cept the flat boring box looking rear end
|
i really like the new one i'd like one
|
a few parts of it looks pretty cool, but as a whole I don't like it.
If I was insanely rich I'd buy one and strip it for parts. |
the original is amazing, but for a new gen car, I'm actually pretty into it. I mean cmon, what if it were as ugly as the new rx-8
|
If i had the money, i would buy that car on the spot. I think it looks very sexy. The old skylines look fine too :D
|
Not like i'll ever be able to afford one anyways. *sigh*
|
The new rx8 is beautiful. That concept is fugly, but a concept only.
Its kinda funny how usa doesnt get gtrs :P Long live NZ~ :p? |

ummm, the "skyline" is actually here in the states as the Infinity G-35 sport coupe. If you want a GT-R, you can't get it here.... Cafe restrictions and emissions overall are too much of a problem to deal with here.
If all you are looking for is speed, go for the Subaru WRC or WRX-STi, or wait a bit for the B11s to come out and blow everyone's doors off. (oh, assuming you can't afford the bugatti veyron) |
The concept is interesting...some good and bad things in it...im sure the finished design will be much more deserable
|
Not to be too much of a dick or anything, but do you guys read all the previous posts before you make your post?? I ask because I have already posted a link to a site that DOES sell real Skylines in America, and they are street legal. Go to www.skylinegtr.com and check them out for yourselves.
To each their own opinions, but please read the previous posts, Thanks :) |

By the way, little known fact: The Infiniti G35 is actually the American version of the Skyline. So, if you want to lobby to save its distinct styling, you're too late. *edited out pictures from quote* |
Skyline is a kind of chili here in Cincinnati. It's good shit

The skyline is an awesome car. Ever since I spotted it in GT3, I've been a fan. But I must say that that concept model of it sucks. It looks too much like a new Z or G35 and has none of the classice skyline looks that I've come to love. If they bring a skyline to the US I'd like to see something more along hte lines of the older models, not something based off of this thing.

I dont care what anybody says... I LOVE THE GTR SKYLINE!! I caught on to it first in Gran Turismo and since then it has been my all time favorite care! They just look so bad ass! And there foregin so you know they will last forever! I hope the US gets on imported....
GREAT POST MAN... LOVE THE CAR!! |
It's the 350Z's older, more badass brother
|
That concept car looks like something I've seen on StarWars, they just took the 350Z and gave it a boob job.
|
the more i look at this the more i can see a G35 in there...

Concept Car: Nissan GT-R
OMG Nissan has finally done it they have brought the Skyline back to life :D
http://home.cogeco.ca/~tylerdonlon/c...Concept_01.jpg http://home.cogeco.ca/~tylerdonlon/c...Concept_02.jpg http://home.cogeco.ca/~tylerdonlon/c...Concept_03.jpg Most concept cars most of the time look good on the front but not the back or the other way around, but this one has a sexy ass and front end;) There are no specs on this website(to bad) |
Hell yeah!!! I'm sure they'll blow us away with the stats. Are those T-tops??? Those lines are sexy!!!
|
Quote:
I don't think its T-Top's but it does have a wierd interior. |
this is old news isnt it? ive seen pictures of this way long ago.. and isnt the g35c considered the american skyline? i think this car is just called GT-R.. not Skyline GT-R.. cuz g35=skyline but not skyline GT-R.. there is not more Skyline GT-R.. get it?? haha
|
I think it would look better with the center of the hood raised and the grille forward a bit, like the old Skylines had. It would give the fron end a bit more definition instead of the unimpressive hood lines and bland, blank grille.
They also need to replace the front Nissan logo with the GT-R emblem. |
I don't know, it's still a bubble car. It's nice but I like sharper edges and more definition. I'll take the old 280ZX or even the old Pulsar NX's over this.
I'm just not a fan of round .... this car looks like something Benz or BMW would do. |
They could round the edges of the rear sheet metal but othwerwise its hot.
|
Ooh, I like this:)
|
Quote:
:) This is some other car.. I thought it was the Infinity G35 :) but nope.. looks diff.. diff backlights.. Infiniti G35 is .. a tad bit uglier.. this car looks ugly to me by the way Sexiest car from Nissan : 350Z |
THe 350 z and the G 35 are, essentially, the same car. This is neither. Id give a left nut for this car.
And the G35 is fucking hot, Id love to own one of those. |
How do you open the door? lol
Seen it before, still like it. |
Quote:
But if they made it look like the old Skyline then no one will buy it, they need something that looks a little like it(like the back end) but the front is a totally different car. The GTR logo on the front would look cool. http://home.cogeco.ca/~tylerdonlon/c...Concept_05.jpg http://home.cogeco.ca/~tylerdonlon/c...Concept_06.jpg I would like to know how that seat belt works  ^^ |
Well, the Skyline GT-R's are all the rage here in Japan and have been for sometime. They are awesome. I remember reading in some motercar magazine how much they wished that car was in North America. I mean, I love the WRX STi and the Evo is ok but both are 4 doors. This thing here in Japan is a 2 door 6 speed AWD monster. A true sports coupe.
I can't understand why I can't post images but I just googled 2004 and 2005 Skyline GT-R and saw it....holy moly. If they brought 5000 of those into the State they would be gone just as fast as the STi was. I like this car a lot better than that cocept they show here. |
IMO, this is too radical looking for the skyline. Hopefully they make it look a bit more like the old one.
|
That's a G35
|
At least they kept the nice taillights I suppose...other than that, where is the FMIC???
|
Nice car!!!!!!!!!

Quote:
I guess you would need them...LOL my self I like the single strap! |
Looks pretty terrible imo. The front looks shitty, at least they kept the taillights.
|
Quote:
What do they expect you to put in that blank space there? A real big number plate? >.< OR a place to store your rocket launcher? (been watching XXX hahaha) |
Quote:
An if that wasn't there your engine wouldn't get any damn air to keep it cool! |
I dont know... I like it.
|
The new design loses the skyline's menacing looks in my opinion.
I honestly would have preferred it if the R35 looked something like this below. It's more like an improvement of the R34 design, like how R33 improved on the R32 and the R34 on the R33. http://www.uploadyourimages.com/img/69877815-r35gtr.jpg And I heard they're discountinuing the extremely proven RB26DETT. Oh well, if I ever had the dough to get a Skyline, I guess I would stick with the R34. |
Quote:
Shit thats a nice looking car...what is that? |
Looks like they took desighn cues from ferari
|
but thats sexy!
|
It's an early R35 concept, either by a third party or Nissan I'm not sure.
They really really shouldn't have touched the Skyline R35. It wasn't necessary for such a radical change of image! They already have the 350Z for people who like modern Audi TT-like designs. |
Quote:
Ya the 350Z is a nice car but just to say you drive a Skyline would kickass :D |
