Concept Car: Nissan Skyline
I love this car... The Nissan Skyline is such an awesome import. I'd love to see it here in the USA.
----------- Nissan will continue building the GT-R in the 21st Century, providing the ultimate driving pleasure to even more people worldwide. In its next generation Nissan is looking to introducing the GT-R in other markets worldwide. In pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure Successive generations of the GT-R have consistently pursued the ultimate in driving pleasure. Over the years, the GT-R has continued to be a supreme-performance road-going car that delivers superb driving pleasure by responding faithfully to the driver's demands. Just sitting in the driver's seat of the GT-R produces a feeling of excitement that envelops the entire body. Achieving the ultimate in driving pleasure means that the car must perform exactly as the driver expects. Meeting this expectation requires a faithful response to the driving actions executed by the driver, and the car must convey accurate information to the driver. In other words, the driver has to be able to judge the vehicle's state accurately and instantaneously. Then, through the car's consistently response to the accelerator pedal, steering wheel and brake pedal, the driver enjoys the pleasure of controlling the car at will. There is feeling of solid trust and oneness that forms between the driver and the car in this process, confidently bringing out both the driver's skill and the car's maximum potential. Consistently providing the best specifications available in every era If drivers are to enjoy the ultimate in driving pleasure, the car's potential must be raised to the utmost limits. Successive generations of the GT-R have truly incorporated superior specifications even among vehicles in this segment. With its unrivaled power, the engine has delivered outstanding acceleration and top speed combined with a driving sensation. A superior braking system has provided powerful braking performance, and an outstanding suspension has enabled the GT-R to corner with remarkable quickness. The GT-R has been the showcase for the highest levels of acceleration, cornering and stopping capabilities. The delicate balance between the powerful engine and responsive suspension has been pushed as each system surpassed last generation technology. As a result of that never-ending process, the GT-R has continued to embody the most advanced technologies available in every era. Expanding the tradition globally in the 21st-Century Successive generations of the GT-R have already established an unshakable position in Japan as a result of incorporating the highest levels of technology available in pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure. That superior performance transcended the oceans to make the GT-R the focus of envious looks the world over. Nissan is developing a new generation of GT-R for the 21st Century with the aim of placing it in the spotlight of the global stage, beyond the borders of the Japanese market. The GT-R displayed at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show is a concept vehicle which delivers "Ultimate Driving Pleasure" with the best in world-class hi-res pics here

I agree with sixate. The change from the r34 GTR to the new concept one is too radical. It looks more suited to being a 350Z variation rather than a Skyline one. I am surprised however that the speedo on the r34 only goes up to 200kmh....!

There is a place in America that you CAN get your own Skyline. It's a company called MotoREX in California. They import all varieties, from early R32's to the last couple R34's.
The Skyline was never intended to look good,(although I find it quite the looker), it was a purpose built car, and will never die as long as we have Gran Torismo on the Playstation. (Yes, I own several Skylines, all very well tuned).

The skyline is one of the best ricers out there, to turn it into that pos is a sacrilege

I saw pics of the r35 a few months ago somewhere, but Im not sure where. I think the design above is ugly and is nothing like I saw. I do think however it is not going to be either of those because I heard they were going to tone it down a bit to bring it to the U.S. Make it a 4 door, etc... Bull Shit I say, bring us the R34 for a good price and we will be happy, but dont bring us that concept, it is way to ugly.

the original is amazing, but for a new gen car, I'm actually pretty into it. I mean cmon, what if it were as ugly as the new rx-8

ummm, the "skyline" is actually here in the states as the Infinity G-35 sport coupe. If you want a GT-R, you can't get it here.... Cafe restrictions and emissions overall are too much of a problem to deal with here.
If all you are looking for is speed, go for the Subaru WRC or WRX-STi, or wait a bit for the B11s to come out and blow everyone's doors off. (oh, assuming you can't afford the bugatti veyron) |

Not to be too much of a dick or anything, but do you guys read all the previous posts before you make your post?? I ask because I have already posted a link to a site that DOES sell real Skylines in America, and they are street legal. Go to www.skylinegtr.com and check them out for yourselves.
To each their own opinions, but please read the previous posts, Thanks

By the way, little known fact: The Infiniti G35 is actually the American version of the Skyline. So, if you want to lobby to save its distinct styling, you're too late. *edited out pictures from quote* Last edited by Snakeyes; 06-18-2003 at 09:41 AM.. |

The skyline is an awesome car. Ever since I spotted it in GT3, I've been a fan. But I must say that that concept model of it sucks. It looks too much like a new Z or G35 and has none of the classice skyline looks that I've come to love. If they bring a skyline to the US I'd like to see something more along hte lines of the older models, not something based off of this thing.

I think it would look better with the center of the hood raised and the grille forward a bit, like the old Skylines had. It would give the fron end a bit more definition instead of the unimpressive hood lines and bland, blank grille.
They also need to replace the front Nissan logo with the GT-R emblem. |
