I just got a '77 cj-5...doing my best to get it to pass emissions (it didn't come with a Cat)...It will be my daily driver for a while, and then I plan to lift it a bit, and see what I can get it to do.

I'm into smaller scale rock crawling. Radio controlled. I recently built the Tamiya TXT-1 kit. It's amazing. It has amazing articulation, and drives over anything it's wheels can get traction on. It's built like a real truck - gear box, drive shafts, differentials, sway bars, etc.
It has dual motors, 4 wheel drive AND 4 wheel steering, and cantilever suspension. I love trucks and offroading. If I had the money and mechanical skills i'd buy a '78 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 and restore the hell out of it. Thats pretty much my dream car (truck, rather). I guess untill them, I'm happy with my 1:10 scale crawler It's almost all stock right now, but I'm going to make some heavy duty skid plates and get a new body for it and do some other little things. I don't have 4 wheel steering enabled yet, I need a second steering servo (basically a motor for steering). Anybody else do RC crawling? |

Does that driveshaft go into teh top of the diff at a 90 degree angle or is it just how im seeing things? and if it does, what does it use for a u-joint to work at those angles?

Very cool setup. a lot of intriguing features. 2 motors? How does that work? Is low speed/ high speed or something? Work in tandem for double power?
Either way, how do they connect to the ESC? do you have the same signal going to both of them, or does your speed controller have connections for 2 motors?

I've got a 96 XJ with a 6" lift and 33's... lots of other stuff too... I love wheeling that thing. You all should come up to south dakota for the dakota challenge jeep rally... it's a rock'n good time. We've got probably 30-40 rated FREE trails up here, about 3/5 of which you'll need at least 33's, and probably a winch....

I have had two YJs all lifted and modified to the hilt. It averaged about $5000 in parts for each one. I did all the work myself. I now drive on desert patrol every workday a Jeep XJ 2000 Sport. It is Pro Comp lifted, big BF Goodrich tires, transfer case modification, CV Joint driveshaft, custom bumpers, K&N Air filter and intake, locking differentials and Optima battery. I plan to install a roof Safari Rack with hi-lift jack, shovel mounts and driving lights.

I got a question. Those DAMN fender flares all seem to fade. Is there a way to get them back in black without having to buy new ones. It seems everyone who ownes a jeep is having this problem but chrysler said it isn't a manufacturers issue......lookslike it to me.

A lot of people on Jeep forums swear that a heat gun (used properly) will bring the black back out of your flares. I've seen before/after photos and it seems to work nicely. Search the forums at jeepsunlimited.com and you'll find the info.
