I love my 92yj. I plan on turning it into a mud churning, rock crawling monster as finances allow. I am going to put high pinion dana 60's with disc brakes front and rear probably go with 4.11's. Looking at 37 inch BFG mud terrains. It currently has a 4.0 six cylinder. and a 904 automatic. I am going to put 999 in it and upgrade the transfer case from the np231 to an Atlas with the lowest gearset available when I buy it. Probably 4.3 to 1. I like the bumpers from Bulletproof Manufacturing. My first choice for suspension is one of the long travel coil conversion kits. That is ever changing. I like something new each month in the suspension area. I will also upgrade the factory rollcage to a super heavy duty cage for when I do something stupid. The biggest expense I see is the new motor. I plan on getting a new motor from Golens Engines. They have a 4.6 liter 6 cylinder It is a bored an stroked 4.0 jeep motor. Horsepower goes from 195 to 300 and torque goes from 225 up to 385. My daughter just graduated and isn't going to college so the money will be piling up soon so the Big buildup is in progress. The best part is that my wife loves the idea of the buildup. She has even been known to laugh hysterically when we hit the big mud holes with the top off. She has even ridden through a touchless carwash with me with the top off. We are both looking forward to the day we can get it into a place we have no idea of how to get out of.

I have a 1999 WJ (Grand Cherokee) that i'm planning on outfitting with lights, brush guard, roof rack... the whole bit, so that I can confidently take it out in the mud and to the desert. They aren't really good for rock crawling, so I apologize for going slightly OT.

my friend has an x-terra ..anyone knows how it sizes up to a jeep in terms of off-road capabilities? i went driving with him once off-road and i have to admit, the frame and suspension is pretty solid..my bum was sore at the end of the ride..and yes, we're a couple of hetero guys..
