A funny little car story
So my family just got a Saab 900 SE, as it is a new car, and me being 20 i figured i need to drive it as much as i can. So i volenter to drive my dad to the airport at 5 am, as we go i go dad what kind of tires are on this car... he goes i dunno so sort of Sears brand or something. I didnt think anything of his reply, as he has always been a big car guy. He had a bunch of sports cars, and his grandfather was a mechanic. So when i got home i decided to look to see how junky they are, much to my suprise they were Yokohama. I just smiled, and walked in the house. So next time i talked to my dad i mentioned to him Yokohama's are so expensive people rap about them. So long story short my dad is becoming an old man... i thought this was amussing, and so did most my friends so i thought i would share it with you all.

I'm a fan of Yokohama's, Pirelli's, and the Bridgestone Potenza line. My 1997 Olds Cutlass Supreme had GoodYear Eagle RS-A's on it, and while I only paid $9/tire, that's about all they are worth. I don't like 'em anymore. They are wearing so fast it isn't funny. And, now that they are down to 5/32" or so, they are starting to squeal going around corners, even mildly. That said, they've got good stopping power...combined with the brakes I've got, the car'll slap you against the dashboard if you're not ready for it.
My 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix has Bridgestone Potenza RE-910's on it, and so far, I like them. Only have about 1000 miles on them, as the car has been down for the last 4 weeks. But, they did ride well, and the short time I have with them, I went through some rain, some snow...not heavy, and they did OK. That said, I don't think I'll buy them again. I want something better yet. I don't know where to go, maybe Potenza RE-950's, but I don't know if they make them in the size I'll need.

My dad has Potenza RE-950s on his VW Jetta, and they are amazing in the wet and dry. I once did 180Kph (110Mph) in torrential rain and there wasn't even a hint of hydroplaning. They have a tread rating of 400, so they'll last you quite a bit, even if you drive aggressively. Their only downside is their performance in the snow, but that's to be expected out of a high performance tire. I highly recommend this tire.
