new Chevy Equinox
what do you guys think about Chevy and the new Equinox?
im in the market for a new SUV and I like this for the new look, and affordability. You can get a fully loaded one for about 26k. I just never bought an American car before and usually they say stay away from a new car in its first year model run, due to recalls and minor glitches, etc. oh, and the fact you can slide the rear seat back and forth 8 inches is ingenious! |

It's another SUV that doesn't need to be made. They haven't designed anything different or eye catching, well I guess they put clear tails on it to try and get a younger crowd but those tails are ugly as sin.
My advice stay away from it at least for a few years until it has proven itself. There are better SUV's out there thta already have a proven track record.

I think that it looks cheap and low quality. especially the rear tail lights.

Hmm it has the same engine 3.4L engine that gm has been using for awhile. Now if it was the 3.8L engine that is some reliability. I never got the point of the sliding rear seats. Pretty much any car I ride in unless its a huge cadillac doesn't have enough leg room...so why would I want to slide the seats forward?

re
i think they make it so you can slide it forward for parents who want the baby closer to them when its just them and the baby in the car, in case baby throws up or something.
plus, u can slide it up all the way in case you need to fit something in the back cargo space. |

Well, our 2004 CRV we got last month has a pretty damn good track record, and it's seats slide foreward. Since they're split 60-40 all sorts of fun can be had sliding all the seats back and forth.
As to the engine in the Equinox, it kills me. GM buys fine Honda V-6's to put in the freaking POS saturn Vue, then they put all this effort into the Equinox, thier first entry into the small/mid-small SUV catagory, and they put a POS made in China engine in it. From this article. Quote:
This part got me too: Quote:
Chevy "Starting at $21,560*" VUE V-6 "$23,115" I suppose they were off on the pricing when that article was written, but since when does Saturn get priority over a Chevy with quality? Which brand maybe deserves a little more love from GM? The brand that still doesn't make money, and has a shitty rep, or the brand known accross the country as the Heartbeat of America? Morons. See: "GM-a study in fucking up your brand."
