eh...
What ive learned is you just have to go try everything on at the store. At least thats what worked best for me. Everybody seems to have their own preference oin what is cool, comfortable, or simply the best gear to have. That being said i have no regrets with my vanson leathers, harley davidson gloves, or arai helmet.
but its what ever floats your boat in the end. . . |

I had good luck with my old HJC AC-10 helmet. Looking at a different model in the HJC line right now I'll let you know. Try it on, I found a Yamaha Factory jacket I really like I might get it as well.

I have some dianese 'race' gloves which are just awesome. For boots I bought the sidi 'city' boot because I can wear them all day, they have armor, and they look like normal boots. I have a field sheer perf leather jacket that's ok, especially since it was inexpensive. I love motorcycle gear, it's part of the fun of owning a bike.

I like anything that alpinestars puts out, especially boots. I also have a pair of armoured GP Pro gloves that rock.
Spidi makes good leathers, as does Dainese. And IMO, nothing beats Arai Quantum helmets. Most comfortable helmet I've ever put on my head. Stay away from Joe Rocket stuff. It's total crap. I bought a vented jacket that came apart at the stitches, literally. And it was only 3 weeks old. Plus, while riding with it on, the collar would rub on my adam's apple and really make riding with it really unbearable. Edit: if you want the best in the biz, you can get custom leathers here: http://www.helimot.com/index.shtml I used to live not to far from there. Helimot is a really friendly guy. But take your checkbook and don't be afraid to use it. Pricey, but there is a reason a TON of pro racers use his stuff. It's the best in the world for the average joe.

I had a leather jacket custom made for me for when I ride my Harley, and I'd suggest it for anyone. It was a little more expensive - about $600 Cdn, but worth every penny. It fits perfectly, has padding in all the right places, is extremely comfortable, and looks great.

I picked up a Shoei RF-1000 Storm not that long ago from Helmet Harbor for about $350.00 USD (and that included a mirror visor wich retails for $50.00, shipping included). One of my friends who deals directly with the guy hooked me up.
As far as a jacket is concerned...MotoRace is (or was...don't know if they sold out yet) having a blowout sale on all their Dainese apparel. I bought the Dainese TH-1 about 3 months ago for $200.00. As you can see, the TH-1 is going for $450.00 and that is a low price for that jacket. I have seen the TH-1 retailing for upwards of $600.00-$700.00! Same thing for the gloves. I got my Dainese gloves for about $40.00. Listen, if you are intrested in any of the Dainese gear, send an e-mail to Dave@motorace.com. I don't what he has left in stock but maybe he can help you out. He sure as fuck gave me a steal on my gear. Dainese is top of the line leather from Italy and Motorace was the main importer of their apparel. Get your hands on some of their shit while you can. Alpine Stars makes some nice looking gear but they are highly over priced and overrated in my opinion. Last edited by iNk; 08-01-2004 at 06:16 AM.. |
